Nostalrius official announcements

I'm pretty sure that they will not just put in different phases for PvE players, they have already said it will be a fresh server, when they announced it.

Nostalrius will release a fresh vanilla PvE realm to fulfill the needs of these players.

https://forum.nostalrius.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=20231

They have also already posted details about the server, that player numbers will be limited to 2500 with a queue, how content will be deployed on that server - it will follow the same timeline as the PvP server - and that players will have the chance to relive a new fresh server start, which is also why a lot of people want to play there.

This second realm will benefit from all the upgrades applied on the current PvP server since its release, including general fixes, bug abuse fixes, anti-cheat features, and other automated systems making players' experience as delightful as possible while protected by mature and efficient-proved algorithms against exploiters. This server population will be limited to 2,500 players with a queue; it will be the same limitation as official retail servers back in 2006.

Regarding content release, it will follow the same timeline as the PvP server. Character transfers from the PvP realm will never be possible. As a consequence, players will be able to relive a new fresh server start: a rare and tremendous moment for everyone

Maybe phasing to offset herb/mining issues and general overpopulation drawbacks? If people are already seeing phasing it seems possible.

But why would this need to be activated by bringing him stones from the Dark Portal and wood from Mount Hyjal? It even says in the text of the video that it is for instant teleportation, and in Kryll's text it says it is for teleportation from one continent to another.

In a secret place deep inside the forest, Kryll, a skilled alchemist and engineer, is trying to create a new powerful machine. If he succeeds, his epic invention will allow groups, and even complete armies to be teleported instantly from one place to another.

Kryll is the new NPC that will phase you to a different plane (PvE plane). There will be no other server. All of us will be playing on the same server and people will be able to use this npc to phase to the PvE server. The code is already in the game. If you go to Un'goro volcano you can test phasing yourself before they remove it. They added it by accident.

I can confirm the Un'Goro phasing part. Mobs, players and herb nodes at the Tar Pits and at Fire Plume Ridge (especially on top of it near Blazerunner) kept appearing/disappearing depending on how close I was to them.
Upon killing a mob, I could see it being alive after moving back a bit. Then coming closer I saw his corpse.
Happened before the server restart when we all experienced lag/delay. Not sure if it still happens though.

Now that would be a pretty neat feature if it's true

This has nothing to do with phases.

There are different maps like eastern kingdom or kalimdor.
these maps are parted in grids and cells.
If you are ingame you can only see objects within your current grid.

Imagine you're in Grid#1 together with your Peacebloom. The Kingsblood is in Grid#2 so you can't see it because the server will not send you an update for another grid. If you now move to the position of Kingsblood you character will leave Grid#1 and enter Grid#2 so the Peacebloom will disappear and the Kingsblood will appear.

I'm sure that you're able to setup sending object updates to a player from adjacent grids serverside but I guess the staff hasn't done this for performance reasons.

If you're interessted in this grid system just checkout https://github.com/cmangos/mangos-class ... ridMap.cpp

Notice that you will need some programming skills

Taken from Wowwiki:

"Kryll is a hideously ugly goblin who served Deathwing during the time between the second and third wars. His voice holds tones of mischief and madness, his skin is emerald green, and his grin is madcap, with long and very sharp teeth, and an almost forked blood-red tongue. His eyes are narrow and yellow with no visible pupils, and his hair is dull brown ridge of fur that rises up from behind his neck and finishes as a wild crest above his squat forehead. Although he is wiry and narrow, his body is also muscular.

Kryll is a skilled alchemist and engineer, and giggles a lot, especially when foul work is afoot. His two chief passions are experimentation and mayhem, and whenever possible he combines the two.

Near the end of his life span, Kryll announced his goal to enslave Deathwing using the black dragon scale in the communication crystal given to Rhonin by Deathwing. Before his plan could fall into place though, he was crushed by a cave collapse caused by Rhonin's defeat of the Fire Golem."
