Was a fun ride, even though it felt like a short one.

Thanks for all the good times

"Regarding player related data, we settled on a strong algorithm to ensure data privacy for everyone. According to European laws, and foremost to our policy of privacy and personal data protection, you will have to explicitly choose to have your personal information included on the public data release if you wish so. More information regarding this part will be available next week, for both players and server makers willing to restore Nostalrius characters."

Hope.

I suppose they might mean we have to individually give the OK for our data to be released publicly by a certain date [tba]? The longer the delay, the more people will drift off.

My game account hasn't had a working forum account associated with since forever, so I guess that rules me out.

Not sure I'd want public release anyway :P. Not complaining - I'm very grateful for my time on nost.

Slight irony about Blizzard stopping me from continuing how I want to once again though. Lol.

Can't you just move the server to russia, put a guy on leadership, and you working behind him? It is so hard to keep your server running up, instead crying and saying, it's been a long journey?

Your character won't have the same value in a different server.

This update is really disappointing
I can't feel the same ambition and fighting from these guys like we have observed in the last months. And no, I don't think they are chickening out by Blizzard. But seriously, this argument of "we don't feel its in accordance with Blizzard values" sounds seriously bs coming from A well aware TEAM leading THOUSANDS of well aware players that this was not something Blizz would EVER approve. To me, it's simple, it just sounds like plain burnout, and they want a way out. The Blizz C&D is in my opinion true, but also was the perfect excuse to retire. Leading can be extremely taxing! Especially this little monster that became Nostalrius. Server. Crashes and emergency fixes. Players requests. Constant optimization. Bug tracking. Botting and hacking. + NEW CONTENT with perfect raids every couple of months. + TBC comming (I bet top leadership was the same than vanilla)... its easy to see the weight that eventually fell on this community of, unfortunately, unpaid developers.

Lets be clear, not even Blizz, a rich corporation with 50 times the resources at the time was ever able to run their server so smoothly.

Thanks again Nost team for all the hard work and making all this possible.

But I agree with lots of others here, don't give up yet! This move by Blizzard is still making waves across the net, more and more people are talking about Nostalrius and seeing the youtube videos/articles on what's happened, and they're speaking up too. #nostalrius gets new posts every hour, more youtube videos every day, BBC just posted an article a few hours ago http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-36044000

Don't let them silence us! Blizzard's painting itself as a villain to a lot of people, and the more this goes on, the more it hurts them to do this.
