I am now confused. The trailer says the new server can hold 10k. So it leads me to believe there will be no cap. That's fine with me, but can we get an official confirmation on this ;)

Because they announced that would be the case? Maybe the post has been removed, but there is/was no beta test, so people understand that 2.5K refers to the cap on the actual pve server.


In the same message you quoted from me I quoted the post. Which is still up & locked: "Message to the private server community", contains the only reference to 2.5k, which (I believe) is about the test server that was up for 30 minutes.

The launch video and the announcement that begins THIS THREAD both use the 10k number. I'm satisfied, and I'll stop the back & forth until official confirmation.

Edit: Apologies for confusing the conversation...the server will indeed be capped at 2500 players.

This server will include all the fixes/changes developed on our PVP server:
* A core able to handle 10K players thanks to our exclusive parallel & clustering system,


The only way I interpret this is that the PvE server can support 10k players, just like the PvP server can.

It makes no logistical sense that the population of one server should be affected by the population of another.

Syrah states in this post that the PvE server will have a cap of 2.5k and there have been no news to my knowledge of this changing. The 10k figure they give is how much the PvP and PvE server can handle combined. 2.5k+7.5k=10k

"A core able to handle 10K players" does not mean the server will be capped at 10K, just that it could handle that. Basically guarantees stability with 2.5K.

"This second realm will benefit from all the upgrades applied on the current PvP server since its release, including general fixes, bug abuse fixes, anti-cheat features, and other automated systems making players' experience as delightful as possible while protected by mature and efficient-proved algorithms against exploiters. This server population will be limited to 2,500 players with a queue; it will be the same limitation as official retail servers back in 2006."

what is really means is that the pve server is super duper and the pvp server is no longer the cool table at lunch

^ this. Also, why would they allow more than 2.5k players if the gathering nodes won't respawn faster. I'll probably move from the PVP server but not because of the ganking, but since I know when AQ40/Naxx hits we'll be starving for flasks because that stuff is not quite doable without them.

I can't wait for the realm to go live. Just too many ass hat higher levels, thinking it fun to gank much lower levels that are trying to quest. Yes it is a PVP server, but have some common sense please.
