If a new server opens, regardless of the type (it could be Murloc-RP-PvP for all I care), both servers will eventually suffer from stagnating populations. Anyone, who claims otherwise, does not have experience with private server projects in the long term (talking 2+ years post launch).

The solution is very simple - Nostalrius wants to do a test and see how many players are interested. If you do not like the PvE server idea, just do not log on it next weekend when they do the test. Let the test show how flimsy the interest is and Nostalrius will realize it's not worth their time and effort.

Oh hello, im glad to hear there is so many players with engineer's degree at Nost! They know what is it to handle such server and such online for sure! Just put more ram and cpus and vanilla wow server will shine and work even with 25000 players without any lags and delay!
Srsly, its just ridiculous. How many more players on PVP server do we need to have for you to understand this?
Retail servers has 2500 players cap, we have stable 7500 at peaks, which is THREE TIMES bigger than High-Locked retail server. Nost LOWEST online is 3500+ which is even MORE than High-locked retail server.
You cant even imagine how long it will take to kill such server in terms of population. Even shittiest ED, with bugged to hell queues, a year ago was holding 1 - 1.5k players (yes ED is dead and we have nothing but ED to blame for this), it will takes YEARS to kill a population of Nost.
And PVE server just help us to lower online a bit, to 5-6k stable online with nice drawing distance and 0 delay, and still let new players to come without any problems to us or them.

Why are you speaking about long-terms like 2+ years? Naxx will be released in less than 1 year. What are you planning to do here in 2+ years?

I joined the server in March 2015, shortly after release. The main part i joined for was PvE, but i also really like PvP, so that is one of the reasons i wouldn't like to see the servers split, because i don't want to go to another server and another character just to do PvP/PvE. Now that i've mentioned characters, i'd like to add that i dont have much time to play, so leveling a new character on the PvE server would take forever. Also, it wouldn't be the same vanilla experience in my opinion if you would only see Pvpers/Pvers on one server. I know all of this sounds clumsy and i didnt really manage to state what i mean, but my point is, making a new PvE server would be bad for the community and the server in general.

Okay, okay i just used timeline for this example :)
Doesn't change anything anyway, even if they release naxx in more than 1 year, people will still play a lot here, and newcomers will join everytime because its Nost, "most populated vanilla server"! Starting locations still flooded with new players, and they will be for a looong time.

Won't this also hurt the newcomers on PvP Nost? I don't suggest logging on Saturday. New players will tend to prefer a fresh server where everyone starts from zero than an existing one.

Not if they want to play on a PvP-Server.

I dont see the problem.

All the PvE-Whiners will get their server.

All the PvP-Whiners saying if you dont want PvP-Server then leave will be happy as well.

Anybody thinking that a second server will in any kind effect the nost PvP-Server-Population in a way that would hurt the server is simply not smart. Vanilla servers were caped at 2,5k. We have 3.5k lowest and way way more on peek.

Also dont forget that new players will be attracted by the server.

I know Nostalrius is really great for lots of you people and you are scared of changes or your baby getting hurt, but this wont happen if a PvE-Server opens.
