I'm sorry to see this happening. Nostalrius was a haven for the disillusioned gamer like myself and my many friends who came here from Project1999 Everquest.
Vanilla WoW was my first plunge into a serious MMO. I had watched my brother play classic EQ and had played Runescape myself - but the day I made that undead rogue named Ieatbabies, my life changed.
Was it for the better? Years spent hunched over the computer screen, ignoring girls and friends for another level, another battleground, another kill, might make the outsider say "no!" But was it for the worse? Over the course of WoW I had many great friendships and created amazing memories which I still cherish to this day.
Of course, WoW turned to dog shit and I left forever during MoP.
I found out AND rolled on Nostalrius the day of launch. I took a break for about a year shortly thereafter, but just recently returned. As of last night I hit level 40 and finally got my mount. My friend generously enchanted my swords with Crusader and Fiery and I was looking at an easy, fun, gank-heavy ride to level 60.
Now, that will never happen. I am glad I took that break, because it would make the death of Nostalrius that much harder.
In the end, I salute the Nost devs and community for creating a WoW experience I never thought I'd taste again. Even though I missed wpvp and RP guilds, being able to cruise around this community oriented, heavy-pop server was truly a treat. Thank you so much. Have a great life!
