According to SOPA, probably.

The poster claimed that Nostalrius stole code from Blizzard. That is not true. As for the illegality of private servers, well, they are in a grey zone. Making a profit off of Blizzard's intellectual property is of course illegal and that has been confirmed in a US court. However, offering a gaming service that Blizzard does not offer, in a non-profit manner, has not been deemed illegal - to my knowledge - in any court of law. We wished to offer as authentic vanilla server as possible with our limited resources, to all players whether returners or new comers. We did not want to contest Blizzard's trademark or copyright in the first place and, aside from few exceptions, they have previously turned a blind eye towards non-profit private servers. I hope you can see the difference.

are you guys both ok? how can you fucking argue about this shit srsly?! Blizzard STOLE SO MANY IDEAS from so many games, fantasy novels, books, comics, legends, stories?! so tell me wtf is thair fucking copy - right? Let me tell ya some stuff about how many they adopted, lets not say STOLE, lets say ADOPTED!

let me give you just FEW examples because the game is full with it, wich makes it amazing ofcourse :)

1) Take a look at Thrall, dont you remember the story about Spartacus?
2) the murlocks: As far as i know they are creations of: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morlock just read about it srsly : orlocks are a fictional species created by H. G. Wells for his 1895 novel, The Time Machine. Since their creation by H. G. Wells, the Morlocks have appeared in many other works such as sequels, movies, television shows, and works by other authors,
3) Look at the stonefiend farm's quests: What about blizzard pay for authorship to shakespeare ? 2 families devided and 2 lovers, the quest ends when you have to collect murlock body parts , give it to some guy in goldshire, and than the girl drinks it and becomes invisible to go to her lover
4) Maybe Blizzard created the orcs, and the elves, i wonder to who they pay for copy - right
5) Maybe blizzard created the dwarfs.
6) Hey what about Worgens, I was thinking its old Slav Legend
7) What about mount Hyjal ? oh wait its an old China Legend about the tree of the imortalitiy
8) Have u ever seen how many ideas they stole from the game called "LOTRO"

So we all know Blizzard stole ideas from Lord of the Rings, Everquest, Dungeons and Dragons, the list could go on forever. Anyway the game I'm talking about about Living Dead(also the novel) I mean a virus that gets spread around that turns people into the undead. Well the forsaken has the "plague" aka a virus that turns people into ghouls and the "forsaken" aka zombies aka the undead aka the living dead. Some one needs to stop Blizzard from stealing other peoples ideas :)

I can go forever but i think its pointless.

MY POINT IS: tell how i can buy a game wich i cant play ? i bought vanilla wow 11 years ago and acording to the EU - anglo - saxon system and trade - laws:

In one deal as a buyer i should pay to the seller and as a seller blizzard has to provide me my product. ITS SO SIMPLE, so i ask where is my product i bought ? I want to play for what i payed.

So its like that you buy an old classic car you love from Dodge... for example, but one day people from dodge, go in your home , change your classic car's gas engine with some electrical shit (no offence i love nature) and than tells you, you cant drive your own car anymore, no matter you bought for it, they are going to force you to upgrat it, becasue they want so :)

Can you see how rediculas this is ? So i bought a game i cant play anymore, and when i write a ticket when i bougt a game i cant play they respond, vanilla wow is implemented in the new content? Its like changing my car's engine with something cosmic super turbo rocket electrical lasser 20000 shit :)

Nevergrim, you wasted lots of words trying to prove a completely bullshit. Btw, the letters which we using, also are someone's intellectual property too. now you know what I mean? Everything in this world could be someone' already owned - borrowing does not mean stealing.
p.s. don't consider this message as Blizzard' actions exoneration
p.p.s. could anyone tell me at last WHICH ONE SERVER WE MIGRATE to prevent spreading the community among the dozens of them???!

I'd say it's already too late. The community is already spreading. Some are goin to Kronos, some are waiting for ClassicWarCraft, others go to PlayTBC, others are goin' to vanilla.re (btw.: vanilla.re NEVER claimed to have any nost-data yet or that there are any nost-staff-members; have seen many accuses, that they're scam).

Nevergrim is right. He has "captured" the essence of the problem, where as you guys are flapping around - no offense.

First of, we have all (at least I did) bought Vanilla WoW back in the day. I actually own 2 copies one with the orcs on the front and one with the elves.

I can't play this game now even though I bought it! So I'm using a vanilla server to play it again, because Blizzard says they wont support it. #YouTninkYouDoButYouDont

Running a private server IS in the gray legal area - WHY ? Because it's PURE emulation. They don't actually use ANYTHING from the original server files OR the game. Don't forget - YOU have the game - YOU are the one who is breaching the agreement with Blizzard - YOU the PLAYER. Try reading your License Aggrement....

The server merelly does what it knows best - accepts data packets (from YOUR game client) and runs the appropriate scripts so you can enjoy : NPCS, QUESTS, DUNGEONS, TEXTURES that are actually...wait...yes...on YOUR Game Client..Oops - Try reading the L.A again.

But because Blizzard can't sue each and every one of us for playing on a pirated server with THEIR game (IT's their game EVEN after you have bought it) they go for the easy route - sue the guys that emulate their servers. The closest thing they could come up at court to charge them would be "Impersonating a Blizzard GM or Server" even though they prefer to go with "Reverse Engineering Lawsuits" :)
