This means that it will be basically NOSTALRIUS 2.0. They didnt say anything about database so I have no idea why are you assuming that they won't pass it to Elysium. If you care more about your silly character than community you can go play some shitty insta-60 fun server and never come back to Nostalrius. And yes, the source code was one of the things why people were playing on Nostalrius. It was super polished and stable as nothing else out there. And now it will be passed to Elysium so most likely, server that they'll host will have same stability and bug-free environment. And even if some problems will occur - There will be people from Nostalrius who will know how to take care of it.
There is still no official announcement from Elysium administration and you have literally 0 details about how this transition will be held but for some reason, most of you cry babies already started to cry about how bad, bugged, lagged, shady it will be. This thread is pure cancer.

Understandable, many probably hoped they could just hop back onto the server in a day. But effectively, sounds like we will get a server up to the same ultra high quality standards of Nostalrius, both in terms of tech, as well as people working on it. Maybe even the same database, but who cares.
Only missing piece is the community; so if we all come to reason about this, I don't see any reason why the new server wouldn't have the potential to carry forward Nostalrius' legacy.

This was the announcement that I expected (not with Elysium specifically). Nost team meet Blizzard so a Nostalrius re-opening was impossible for legal reasons.

I'm not interested in Elysium, unless they can use our old DB, and it only would be just to make time until Crestfall opens, because I don't trust Elysium quality, and they don't have a PvE realm in which I'm interested.

Seems Crestfall is going to announce their closed beta soon.

So thank you Nostalrius team for everything. I salute you!

I actually forgot how cancerous the Nost community was. Tho I agree with this. As always the crybabies will be the loudest and it would seem like everyone is unhappy and...people are gonna play on Elysium and if you don't go on the forums you will have a blast. I am quite happy with this announcement

Let's be real here. Nost is your first private server so you don't know how they're run. Elysium won't use any part of Nosts' core because any part of merging cores will result in some hackneyed abomination that fucks the most random shit up with no explanation. They probably won't switch it either, because to do so would be to admit that they are complete failures with regard to coding (they are).

You'll get to experience the fullblown aids that is a Russian managed server with even more corrupt GMs than Nost had
