I don't know what to say anymore, but whatever you guys think you're doing, I can tell you it's not going to work.
If Blizzard's proven anything in the past year, it's that they honestly don't care anymore. They tell us, "We want it too" but they clearly don't agree with the idea enough to make any real effort whatsoever to make Legacy Warcraft a feature. They don't want to go back. I can't say whether or not I blame them, not now. What I can say is that they have made it clear they're not interested in the idea, at least, that's my understanding.
I do think that the amount of work you put into this server, this idea of resurrecting true Vanilla WoW, was tremendous, and I appreciate that. I would like to see the older versions of this game see light again. I've played enough on these servers to know I want to play again. I see this argument a lot, "You think you want it but you don't." I can say, that's not true. Most of the players who've put so much work into level capping, endgame PvPing and raiding, dungeoning will probably agree. Some say it's entirely nostalgia driving it but to me it's more than that, I honestly think the game was different. More difficult, more complicated, but much more satisfying.
It's not easy to say this, but I think you're all in over your heads. Stopping us from playing on Vanilla servers won't do anything but destroy everything we've worked for, in more ways than one. It prevents people from playing these older expansions and experiencing the older content, playing with the characters they've put so much time into leveling and playing with, and denies the popularity of the idea of Legacy. I don't understand what message this sends to Blizzard, a decline in Legacy players, other than that they were right! Where does that get us? If we want Legacy I don't see what's left other than putting pressure on them to provide it. As much as I hate to say it, I don't see another way. More people playing on Legacy realms means more people standing for the idea of Legacy. Stopping us from playing makes it look otherwise. This is the complete opposite direction!
I'm quite concerned that there's something else going on here, be it disagreements with Elysium, or bribery or blackmail or just jealousy? I don't know, but this is to me a very strange decision.
Only 10% of Nostalrius players transferred? What about me and all the other players who tried to transfer but could not, because you had not told of your plans to shut down the token generation? I've been trying for weeks and now, just as I suspected, it had been deliberately shut down? Once again, I'm seriously concerned by this. You people seem to be taking a much different direction all of a sudden. It appears to me, that you may have been deliberately cutting token generation to limit the return of Nostalrius veterans. Not to mention, you told of your intentions to somehow resurrect Nostalrius if Blizzard did not make any announcement regarding Legacy World of Warcraft? Now you are taking it all back! I don't understand what makes you think you can go back now. It clearly would have been better for everybody if you had never worked this transfer out at all.
While I like to see Blizzard themselves embrace Legacy, or even just give permission to host servers running on older versions of Warcraft, I think that this is not the way to do it. This makes no sense at all to me, assuming we are being told everything. Unless Blizzard has disclosed to you plans for an official Legacy project using your data, which I HIGHLY doubt is the case, given how they've behaved previously, or something shadier is taking place behind all of this, I do not understand what there is to accomplish through this. I don't hate you guys. I appreciate what you've done for us but I strongly disagree with this decision.
