Nostalrius official announcements

Agreed--yet It's obvious some do have doubts though--which is fine--discussion and questions are never a bad thing. But then there also might be some whom believe that the people here on Nostalrius Staff and Developers those people who have dedicated countless amount of hours searching, datamining, de-bugging, reverse-engineering towards putting forth the closest blizzlike experience to date we have seen on a vanilla server are just straight 'doing it wrong.'

But only a theoretical wrong, not wrong in the sense that they can do it better but that 'it could be done better'.
Except only Blizzard has done it; nobody else. So it's ALL talk in the end. :)

P.S: There is enough good pre-raid gear for tanks, healers, dps and everyone. If you think your class/spec
will be shit; it won't. Many in this community have already done all the archiving personally as well. You won't be powerful carebear retail machine, but you will feel like a normal vanilla player did. Like what they did made a difference in ALL Roles of the game.

There are no 'super-heroes' in vanilla. It's a community game meant for people to bond, explore, adventure together in an enviroment where each person has a place and the puzzle doesn't fit without all the pieces in exactly the right spot. Just remember though: All the pieces are worth the same.
Relax folks this is gonna be a great journey.

First let me say that this shows how passionate and hard working the staff and this community is for undertaking this. That being said though, I approach this announcement not with excitement but with a little bit of caution, blizzard at the time made all of those changes not in a vacuum, but in the context of how the state of the game (talents, overall completion of content) and its players (average skill) was at that time, a context that you guys sorely lack and as much as we like to mythologize how great vanilla was, in many cases Blizzard at the time was largely inexperienced on how to balance an MMO.

Also this seems as well a case of players wanting their cake and eat it too, yes having as close of an authentic blizzlike experience is very important but it's never going to be the same, even if this change does happen most players will still rush through the content, we know what items and talents to get, also we know a lot more about the classes we play in general.

To put into perspective this is a video of the world first Ragnaros kill (rogue's perspective): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Br1hXGXJ7Tg

No Slice and Dice or Adrenaline Rush and also whispering throughout the whole fight and this is from the rogue who's 3rd in damage done, a player with half a brain could out-damage that rogue easily right now.

I'm glad you're thankful for the hard working being put in. My question is what type of caution should we have? And why? I totally agree we'll never reach a 'true' univocal Blizzlike experience; but that's not they are trying to do; just trying to do the best that's possible. What more could we ask!! :)

they did say about 450 items reverted. I would assume lots of items including T1 and even some noted gear like gladiator chain set or old dungeon sets?

http://web.archive.org/web/200502062343 ... ?setid=181

this will indeed be very nostalgic before 1.4 in terms of difficulty.

the nostalgia is real.. back before t2 sets had a model change.
I wonder if Scholo will be 10 man and retarded hard? :P

allright I've been sifting through every single item set on allakhazam's webarchive pages

i need to go to bed about now, but if I remember, I'll post all the item sets tomorrow in an edit of this post

some sets, such as druid/shaman T2 don't display properly or something, but if you click on the icon for each item, whether it be a question mark or not, it'll show you the stats of the item, for some of em at least, and hopefully for all of them

its a very tedious process identifying which addresses draw blank pages and which don't, but ill do it for you

some of the set bonuses ive seen so far are very interesting, as well as item properties

such as bloodfang hood gives melee attacks a 1% chance to stun your opponent
EDIT: I do realize by now what the OP says, but I'll post this anyway, even if not for the devs to see
here goes
if I say something is different from 1.12.x, it is, but if I don't say so, that doesn't mean its not different because I could've messed up

This is getting silly, but i like it.
People need to remember it wont last forever. If the outcry is too much they can speed up the release of the item buff patch.

EDIT:
By the way, some of the old gear had wrong statistics because old WoW, you know how buggy, glitched and broken it was. F.ex. Dalrend's +50 AP set bonus didn't even work back then.

However, just so the devs are aware: The Postmaster's Treads have incorrect stats that got switched with Shadowcraft Boots - According to a comment there, and tbh, it makes perfect sense that those 2 most definitely have switched stats. Hope you don't make that same error in-game. ;)

how to: debuff items to how they were before 1.4

step 1: look up the item you want to see the pre-buff stats for on this website or one with a similar web address format
http://db.vanillagaming.org/?item=11816
http://db.vanillagaming.org/?itemset=209

step 2:
take the portion of the web address after the question mark, copy and paste it then go to this or a similar link to old allakhazam without pasting it
https://web.archive.org/web/20041104200 ... item=11816
http://web.archive.org/web/200502070141 ... ?setid=209

take note of setid=209 and witem=11816 at the end of the URLs

step 3: if it says redirecting you to WoWhead or if it redirects you to a different page stop it before it loads and click one of the black bars further to the left mentioned in the next step

step 4: look at the UI at the top of the screen with the black bars and the web address above it that that leaves out https://web.archive.org/web/20041104200857/ or whatever

step 5: go to where it says http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=11816 under the part where it says https://web.archive.org/web/20041104200 ... item=11816

step 6: in the address bar with the shorter URL, delete 11816 or 209, then enter the number of the desired item that is in the URL for the page for the item on http://db.vanillagaming.org/?itemset=81 or whatever
so, for an item by itself, you would do this to the secondary address bar provided by wayback machine:

take
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=11816
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=17076
17076 is the number at the end of the address for the page for http://db.vanillagaming.org/?item=17076 (bonereaver's edge)
this item is also very different before 1.4

for item sets, do this instead
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/itemset.html?setid=209
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/itemset.html?setid=
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/itemset.html?setid=1
1 is the number at the end of the address of the page for http://db.vanillagaming.org/?itemset=1 (savage gladiator set)

some parts of it may be unclear, but I hope you people understand how this works; enjoy hunting for pre-1.4 data!

I also want to point out that in order to balance the endgame before BWL, you may also want to debuff items all the way back to at least level 36 blues, because items such as Scarlet Leggings and Herod's helmet are really good for enhance shamans
