To the WoW Legacy fans, and Nostalrius community

Today, only 10% of the former Nostalrius players have generated a token to join Elysium, and we believe that we failed to satisfy this community entirely, as at the same time legacy fans acquired a reputation of “pirates” on the official WoW community.

First of all, you were always "pirates". Who seriously gives a fuck what the official WoW community thinks? Maybe once upon a time we were all a part of that community out of necessity, but no longer... everyone in the emulated server scene has moved on except YOU. Seriously, move on... why are you trying to pander to the "official WoW community"? THEY AREN'T YOUR COMMUNITY.

Secondly, to address that 10% figure. I for one haven't even started playing on Elysium yet, cause I'm casual as fuck. Did a quick search and saw it released NOT EVEN a full month ago! Take a step back and consider:

1. Some people don't even bother with a new server until the lag dies down.
2. Some people have lives, jobs, families.
3. Some people are casual gamers
4. Two major holidays called Christmas and New Years which usually causes number 2 & 3 players to NOT play as much.

My wife and I used to play on Nostalrius, and we were planning on playing Elysium...eventually. I think your assessment of the population is premature to say the least.

1) What was genuine was u releasing data to elysium... obviously u wouldn't have done that if you thought there was a slight chance for Legacy. So we know u're done with that hope and dont believe it ever happening.

2) "Pirate server" stigma? wtf is this bullshit, u can only have "pirate server" stigma if there are shit ton of bugged, personal info stealing servers that hurt the scene. If you have Elysium you actually have a place to advertise a semi-blizzlike experience that gain a "vanilla" servers more fans. That argument you made contradicts every logic.

Well, I generated a token, but it apparently wasn't working for some people for a long time. And I'm sorry to say, but even if it worked 100% of the time, you're going to lose a bunch of players by virtue of even having a token system. I'm not saying it was the wrong solution; it was probably the only realistic solution. But it presented extra hurdles and turned some people away, no doubt.

I think the real problem with your post here is this notion that you can hand over your stuff and then basically ask for it back. And you weren't very clear in what you're asking for. Whatever the particulars are, the community loses something. You're essentially asking for the community to lose something (maybe everything) again.

And for what? Some arbitrary rationale that it will hasten official servers? Blizzard will eventually provide legacy servers whether Elysium exists or not, I think. And if they don't or they never even considered it, then elysium is here to help. Asking for them to basically cease and desist after you gave them your code is a bullshit move, and I don't think it's going to achieve anything.

I'm honestly sorry to make your day worse by adding to the pile of negative responses but this strikes me as a seriously stupid move on your part. Maybe with some more details and rationale, it will make more sense. I'd be interested to read that post.
