Sure can't say 2k is dead. Dude I'm playing on l4g tbc atm which peaks at like 600 online and u still can raid and do dungeons but yea... its a matter of feeling game alive in every zone like riplip said. It makes a casual herb grind or any world activity offer a thrill. When I took a one day break from bg grind to farm blood of heroes in epl I had more than 150 kills from that zone alone and I wasn't even attacking those that seemed uninterested with bloods.

I don't know about exact Kronos pop numbers.

The last numbers given by players running their own census addons were (for K2):
- 400/600
- 800/1200 at peaks

I played until now on K2 and it's true that after Nost shutdown, the pop on K2 was huge.
But the pop quickly decreased because lag and DDOS attacks periods, no BG pop, a lot of very poorly scripted events and boss combats (eg. lol @ Landslide: no minions, no earthquake, no knock away), a lot of buggued mobs, missing events or npc spells. Dungeons and raids are very undertuned (that was the worst for me), funserver (modified Black Lotus spawn, etc.), etc.

And now, the server seems almost dead (examples: impossible to find a group to run Maraudon, very hard to find a group to run BRD) [horde side], the 10-19 pvp scene is dead and the 20-29 pvp scene is dyiing.

Snowball effect.

But anyways, it's a shame that Kronos admins hide populations stats.
And what is the reason behind that?

They used to show their pop numbers, then literally the day after nost was announced to shut down they broke the /who function. They to this day have never given the answer why. Most speculation is cuz they didnt want blizz to see how popular it was.

I think people are caught up so much in what nost is going to do when they reopen rather then if they even will in the first place. Will we get an announcement right after blizzcon? or is nost gonna wait months to give us any updates and have people lose the hype again? you guys are so caught up in your heated arguments on what we should do for the reopening rather then focusing on getting nost to announce their return in the first place. Worry about the issues of having a good relaunch when we even know its going to happen

If anything new happens I'll be sure to be one of the first thousand on it. I'd just be happy playing Vanilla WoW in a quality and accurate/nostalgic setting, even if it means the server shuts down the next week.

Hey everyone,

We’ve seen some talk among the community that you might be expecting to hear some news on legacy servers at BlizzCon, and we just wanted to take a moment to let you know that while we’re still discussing the possibility, we won’t have any updates to share on that until after the show.

[reset snipped]

-J. Allen Brack and the World of Warcraft development team

It's pretty clear again from J Allen "You Think You Do But You Don't" Brack and the core dev team they have NO intentions of making vanilla a reality. If they had the will they'd find a way to make it happen, even simply making an announcement that they're working on it. Those guys simply don't want to go back to the past. That kind of mentality is going to screw them. So with all due respect to Blizzard for providing me with many years of gaming experiences, I will say "fuck them" and let's get Nostalrius 2 done. Open the servers in Russia; a country hostile to the American legal system. :)

People keep acting as if Nost is going to come back when there's nothing to support it. You're going to be really damn upset when they just release the source code. I wish they'd go ahead and break the news to you, but like Blizzard, they want to keep jerking everyone around now. Neither of these plan to host Legacy, and neither want to give you an official "NO". Blizzard has to sell its blizzcon tickets and Legion subs. Nost simply wants to remain relevant in the private server news, which will be toast once they reveal the server isn't coming back. They could have told you months ago that they're not coming back, and are just preparing to release the code... but they didn't want to do that, they wanted to jerk you around, like a carrot on a stick.
