Hey Nostalrius,
I have been playing up and on for almost a year. And even tho I never reached 60 (mainly cause i'm the worst althoholic in the world, I go to AA meetings and such...), I had the best of times here.
Yesterday evening I got the news and it really felt as if I lost something important. I Have played wow since late 05 and early 06 all the way up to Pandaria. Everything after TBC was getting less. I have had huge intervals of not playing on retail for this reason.
Never been a fan (read: sceptic) of Private servers until I got here. And I want to take this opportunity to say thank you. Thank you developers, volunteers and of course all the people I played with.
I think I speak for more people here.
Nostalgia had something special. Not just the game mechanic and satisfaction from your hard efforts, for me, it was mainly the community. Almost each and every player on Nostalrius came there for a reason. We all had the same in mind. And I am damn proud I was part of this international project that formed so well.
Making new friends, the courtesy, the friendliness, the finding a group and walking to a dungeon together and clear it together while socializing. Not this join a que with random strangers to grind some numbers to get your epic set in 2 days. It's something you hardly find anywhere, yet alone on retail nowadays, unless it's some unknown upcoming hardcore alpha game on steam.
It truly was the old MMO it used to be and better. I will miss Barrens chat, I will miss you all.
For me, I have small hopes this gets a resurrection or a restart in a server the bloody greedy yanks cant get their paws on. I saw one person put it nicely. "Blizzard is no longer a game maker, it became a company."
Thank you Nostalrius, thank you for giving me back that true feeling of bonding in a game with people all over the world and set out for a epic adventure.
