Clearly an uneducated and poorly executed answer. Even if you break it down to just the 10-15 minutes you claim ANY ganking is, that's still 10-15 minutes of time someone is losing because a bored toolbag has nothing better to do with his time. Also, the ganking isn't the only issues, in fact it isn't even the main issue; it's the camping that occurs after the gank. If these people bother you, let them leave to the PvE server. However, I believe that the "grey killers" or "gankers" are the ones doing the doomsday posting. The server will be fine and you will be rid of the crybabies. What's the problem?

Talryx wrote:I have a strong feeling this PVE server nonsense will hurt Nost overall. A large percentage of the people begging for it now, are going to get bored without the world PVP. It might sound like a great idea, but after you level to 60 with ZERO conflicts in contested zones, and run a raid once or twice, 90% of people will just get bored and quit (if they even get that far.) Don't forget - the real reason retail is failing is because they removed everything challenging from the game. World PVP is a critical component.

This is another uneducated statement. The most active and popular Blizzard servers are heavily PvE (normal) and RP servers. World PvP is an important component, however, it isn't lacking in non PvP servers. It is just not forced. There is nothing challenging about a level 60 ganking a level 25 while camping his/her corpse. Also, retail failed because of the constant change and the dumbing down of the leveling experience. Little, to none of which has anything to do with forced world PvP. Nice try, though!

This may be the only part of your statement I agree with, minus the aggressive look at me I'm an internet tough guy so it all must be as I say ending. However, forcing frustration upon a player is a good way to lose said player, if they are so inclined. Putting up with bugs and flawed mechanics is one thing, but being FORCED to put up with a very bored level 60 Night Elf who loves to tea bag a corpse because......it's the way that person role-plays?!?!?! is another.
When there's nothing left to burn, you have to set yourself on fire.

Please, Nostalrius Team. If you're going to do this, at least:

Put a free Transfer service.

Just because you don't want to get ganked or focus on PvP for that matter, that doesn't mean you want to play on a dead server. You do have to realize that other people have different needs, and that your perspective isn't the only perspective that matters.

I have a strong feeling this PVE server nonsense will hurt Nost overall. A large percentage of the people begging for it now, are going to get bored without the world PVP. It might sound like a great idea, but after you level to 60 with ZERO conflicts in contested zones, and run a raid once or twice, 90% of people will just get bored and quit (if they even get that far.)

Well you may have some sort of a point with the ganking resolving itself, but if you constantly get ganked by different players wherever you go it can still become extremely frustrating. Especially if you are trying to finish a quest in a zone, and it keeps being camped by 5 players of the opposing faction at all times. This can be solved by going somewhere else, but it may take quite a while for the previous spot to become "neutral" or in your favor. I also want to say that there actually are players who will corpse camp people for ages, though it is not the norm, but it does happen, especially in places like STV where players come back to "take revenge".

I hope you realize that the players who want a PvE server were never interested in world PvP, or perhaps PvP for that matter. I am sure you would get bored (I would probably too) on a PvE server, but please don't apply your own reasoning to other people. PvE realms (and RP) were quite popular back in vanilla (not as popular as PvP), and people have been playing on those sort of realms for ages, without quitting. I don't see any reason why Nostalrius wouldn't have one if they are trying to capture the "vanilla experience".

The reason retail is failing has nothing to do with PvP. PvP was never that popular to begin with. It's because there is nothing to do outside of raids, vanilla does not have that problem even if you remove world PvP from the picture.

No need to get hostile. If you really enjoy PvP then I don't really see any reason why you would be so mad at other people having a different point of view. Perhaps you don't really like it that much, so you feel like you need to defend it and insult people to convince yourself that you actually like it? Very similar to the reasoning of homophobes.

This will be difficult for the PvP'ers that enjoyed countless hours of free time this summer - and were able to in turn farm the folks who didn't. I get that in a sense these pvp'ers want an easy to kill farming environment - that they leveled mostly to enjoy just camping and killing whomever whenever.

I started on Kel'Thuzad in 2004 after beta - we had a lot of pvp. But it was nothing in comparison to this due to such a heavily populated (sickly bloated even) server situation. Alliance and Horde are both guilty of chasing down single players and lower levels like special ed kids to candy. There is no purpose to login your 50-60 whatever and destroy someone's night.

So, in short this is great for pve'ers who had little choice but to play on a pvp server if they wished to play a pure version of what made WoW so famous (because it sure wasn't unicorns, chauffers carrying level 5s to their next quest on a Harley Davidson, heirloom gear, gear score, and so forth).

GREAT DECISION! =D As a working adult, I cannot wait to have a chance to enjoy the game without getting rolled over and over again in the few hours I have to play on any given day.

In the end, I will bet that the pve server will have more players than the pvp server - in fact, I'm fairly certain both sides of this debate are well aware of that.

I don't see the big deal. You'll get to pvp with ppl who want to pvp. Based on how many ppl disapprove of a pve server I'm sure there will be more than enough alts to gank on Nost pvp.
