I truly believe that there is a good balance here between people who want the PvP server, and people who want the PvE server. If you read the devs' census on who came to the PvE testing, quite a few were returning players / people who had never played on Nostalrius before. I'd say that a good chunk of the PvE servers population will be made up of returning players, new players, and players sick of the constant ganking / unbalanced world PvP that happens on the server atm (not at all the devs fault, just the nature of a PvP server.)

What I'm trying to say is -- I doubt that the PvE server will drain the population of the PvP server too severely. Many people have already gotten to 60 and are happily gearing up and doing various activities with their characters, and so it would make no sense for them to want to start all over again. Then again, some people do like starting over again. Of course, at the launch of the PvE server, we'll get a huge influx of players on it, but as the weeks go on, the population will die down a little, and become a pretty steady amount (4-6k midweek, up to 8k weekends, etc.) -- though lower, due to the cap on PvE.

I don't think either of the servers will become "underpopulated" at all. The introduction of this new server isn't community-splitting -- if anything, it will attract players looking to return to the server, and new players, who will make up their minds on whether they prefer the PvP or the PvE server.

Also: obligatory "it hasn't launched yet, nothing is for certain". And that's that. No more assumptions, people.

Sorry for the wall of text!

It wont? Have you even read the OP?

Syrah wrote:1. Feedback from PvE server test.

From the data we gathered during the session, ~2,500 distinct players logged in during the brief 40 minutes:
* 67% of the population were new players who had never played on our server before,
* Among the remaining ~33%, half of them were old players who stopped playing on the PvP server.

Only 16-17% of the players that connected were still active on the PVP server.(400-425 players out of 7500+) The rest were all new players or players that stopped playing because the PVP server is constantly drowning.

This is what I've been saying too, doing too many things at once will only give you bad quality.

Don't worry mate. The server can work even with 500 players of each faction online. Where I play (until the pve server) there are 150 players online at peaks ( albeit it is 15x) and we still have people to clear naxx.

I keep looking for a "normal" server in the realm list to see if they secretly posted it. They haven't
I can't wait Nost! Thanks (in advance) for giving me the opportunity to enjoy the zones and quests while leveling without a skull-level dwarf hunter ganking/camping all the time in places like Hillsbrad.

I haven't made a character on Nost because i've heard that the ganking is horrible. I have 11 friends that have stopped playing retail wow with me and we are all waiting for the release of PvE.

We all log on daily and end up on curse talking about how it's not released yet, then going to play other games lol.

Looking forward to the release, so that we can all finally play on a vanilla server together (4 of us tried kronos but it's low pop and is pvp).

We will continue to log on daily and check lol.
