Playing with 9k people online on ONE realm is fucking insanity.
Honestly though, while this may seem like the unpopular opinion among all the people complaining - most people on this server probably sticked with it due to the "crazy" population, myself included; I mean, it's just as easy to change over to Kronos or Emerald Dream, which have medium-high blizzlike populations.
After so much time playing this game over the years, I've never really felt a world as uniquely alive as Nost's. I just hope whatever they're going to do doesn't harm that.
This.
I can't think of a single reason to start a second Nost server when there are plenty of good vanilla servers out there that people can move to if they don't like the results of the current high pop here. Moving to the second Nost server would be no different from moving to Kronos.
Why on god's green Earth would you try to push players to Nost's competitors, that's the most retarded thing I've ever heard. Also there are hardly "plenty" of good vanilla servers, the only decent Vanilla server that isn't Nost is Kr and that server has barely any players on NA times and to expect people who have invested time and energy into Nost to just leave is stupid and you're stupid for suggesting it. As for your "no good reasons to start a second server", the server experiences significant lag for almost everyone after there are more than 6k players online, not only the lag but also frequent disconnections for many users as well, this is after the hardware has already been upgraded, quality has been reduced (like player and npc draw distance) to help the server load and these problems still persist, to say there is no issue is a severe understatement. Those are just the technical reasons for why a 2nd server is needed, some people simply don't want to play on a PvP server and that will attract more players assuming the 2nd server is PvE, 10k players online at a time is also too much for any server, not just a vanilla one, there are no mining or herb nodes, there are no quest mobs, the world is so cramped that in almost any zone you can't move for 60 seconds without getting into a fight with someone of the opposite faction whether you want to or not, whether its a fair fight or not, and if you lose? You're forced to spend 5 minutes walking across the entire zone just to get back to your corpse to get killed by the next person to walk by or the mobs that respawned on you because the server spawns mobs at a ludicrous rate because of the amount of players on it, this server is great but there are objectively too many people on it, quality is impacted, gameplay is impacted and people's connections are impacted simply because there are too many people on a single server, Nostalrius NEEDS a second server if they want to continue growing and they don't want to see people give up on their laggy, crowded, rage inducing server.
