I would say that the best thing to be done by coders is to develop an opensource module so users can download and upload their characters in an encrypted file, allowing them to store their characters on a file in their hard drive, and so uploading it to other servers, this would be a big problem for Blizzard since people would not be bind to a specific server, therefore shutting down one server would not be a solution for them.

have been around since start of server, and had huge amounts of fun as GM and player.
only real life came up to me and punched me in the face.
work - private - family etc are things that are more important than gaming.
so I had to leave nost for what it is.
brings tears to my eyes to lose such a respectable project.
