Stop asking them to switch hosts, if they do it will be 4-6 weeks and they cant give out statements until then. If blizzard requests and gets their identity, they can directly cnd or sue viper/daemon and dont have to go after the isp. It all comes down to that. Now shut your mouth.

Anyone to confirm this? It's the first time I see it listed as an issue.

If they had their identity, there would be no need to cnd the host in the first place. Also host cant give out the identity just like that without being forced due to privacy laws.

If their identity remains unknown and its possible for all data to be nuked by the old host, nothing stops them from relaunching in russia. If their identity is know , they cant even release the source code without being accountable for future projects based on it.

All you wannabe nost 2.0 projects stop living in your bubble.

Extremely sad to see this happen. Had so much left to experience on this server. But most importantly, I'm grateful I got to re-experience Vanilla, and indeed it felt like the earliest days of the game again. Never thought I could get that hooked ever again. I enjoyed every second of this great journey.

A HUGE thank you to the entire Nost team.
As a dev myself, I can only begin to imagine the level of professionalism, incredible intrinsic motivation (thank you again for not once trying to introduce any kind of monetary incentives) and technical knowledge they had and still have.
The quality of Nost was far, far higher than anything I have ever seen achieved by volunteers anywhere. In fact, they somehow managed to even outperform Blizzard's servers, which never achieved that many players and even today still tend to crash when some Multiboxer shows up in a zone. And that's just incredible, given Blizz is one of biggest, most competent game companies out there.

Fortunately, none of it was in vain, as the good times we had on this server can't be taken away from anyone anymore.

I wish all the best for the entire staff. Please do keep us posted how this thing proceeds for yourselves, i.e. if you're charged with anything personally (if so, I'm sure the community would be very willing to help out with lawyer costs etc.).
And on a more selfish note, I still hope this isn't the last we will have seen of you. I don't think any other team can come close to the level of quality you guys acheived, so.. I'll keep my fingers crossed in the meantime. :)
