1. Nostalrius Code will be moved to Elysium
2. Nostalrius Player database will be moved to Elysium, using a database from ~1 week before the shut down announcement.
3. A large portion of Nostalrius Staff are going to be working on the project, in all areas including Development, Administration, QA, etc. (viewtopic.php?f=2&t=44550&p=314428#p314411)

For people who cannot read between the lines, it sounds like Elysium will basically operate as Nost 2.0 in all aspects. This is no longer "some shit Russian server who couldn't release AQ40 in 6 years".

We also know that the following servers will be available:
1. The original Nost PVP Server
2. The original Nost PVE Server
3. A fresh Nost PVP Server

We know that Nost characters and accounts will (for the most part) take priority over Elysium account and character names. This is a technical hurdle that's being reviewed already.

If I had to speculate, I'd say that once the announcement is made with final details and dates, we can probably expect the Nost forums to be locked, and that the Elysium forums will be our new home. I'd also guess that a majority of the staff currently working on the Elyisum project will be moving into different roles to help support the new PVP server and to learn from how the Nost team operated.

Exactly. They couldn't just announce "Hey everyone, we're moving all the people and assets from Nostalrius to Elysium -- everything will be exactly as it was". They needed to create some shred of ambiguity to separate themselves legally from the situation if (and when) Blizzard eventually comes after Elysium.

But the nerd rage was strong and swift, and people didn't really parse the subtext of the announcement.

Nost devs: y'all are incredible. I can't thank you enough for the endless hard work and how you've handled this entire situation.

Even-though I got banned from this server due to GM incompetence i'm sad to see another server replace Nostalrius.. R.I.P. Nostalrius :(

Is there any mention how are they gonna hold big capacities of players? I'm pretty sure old Elysium wasn't meant for 10k+ population, and like 10 minutes after Nostalrius announcement (that mostly got bad response under comments untill Elysium gave announcement) Elysium's population jumped from like casual ~200-400 to 1800...
Which will probably lead to huge numbers at Nost relaunch if there was so many already when things looked "bad" :)

Anyhow I'm guessing they'll use Nostalrius's hardware, but that's just my thinking :D

There was already an announcement like 1-2 weeks ago about Elysium upgrading their hardware. If you read the Post-Mortem that the Nost Team released, you'd know that they already did a pretty significant analysis of the hardware requirements for running all of the various servers (Prod, Dev, QA), the forums, etc.

If I had to make a totally wild guess, I'd say that the Nost Team would target something like a Jan 1 date for the new server. That would give them about 7 weeks to get everything up and running and organized, and enough time to re-build the hype / dispel the myths / work out the technical details of the whole situation.

i wonder if Nostalrius is going to help them out with that "Clustering Server" technology. I remember right before shutdown..it was going to help the PVP server with massive people on it or something like that. And possibly lead into cross realm bgs in the future with that power. It was a complicated project, but thats how i understood it. Im going to find that announcement i Know i am not going crazy.

We will continue collaborating closely with them. This collaboration could include additional "things" to share with them if necessary to achieve this goal. In exchange, this server promised to not receive any profit from this activity. They will also have to create the documentation required to install, understand and use the work we did.

I think they gave that answer.

Upgrading their hardware, yet their website is laggy as hell

Can't even log in on their server

And their hardware/hardwire decided to give me this:

TIHEALY 07.11.2016 20:08 Failed login autoban

a nice temp ban on a fresh account creatd the same day ... i really hope that this is happening to a lot of people, so i can udnerstand taht it's on their (Elysium) fault ... but this is REALLY a bad start for them ...

OK I'm trying to find out if they are going to do a data rollback, I've seen some posts saying it will be before most even announced the shutdown but the only official quote I find says, "You will be able to choose which realm (in case of multiple realms) that you will be able to transfer your character to and resume playing as if Nostalrius never left."

Personally I'd prefer them to literally transfer from the point it shut down so we have to recover from the devastating blizzard that blew through the realm of Nostalrius :geek: not everyone gave their gold away or deleted gear etc. Some of us continued to raid together or work towards goals after the announcement.

wtf u on about lad.. they are going to take 1 month or so to transfer the database and its pointless even logging on their realm now. The realm is up and works perfectly too but no one is really playing as nothing is being saved right now.
