Nobody is giving away account information and character data. Rather it's nostalrius making their private server code public. The Mangos code is open source and every private server builds upon this code and fixes it in order to properly emulate how the game really functioned. Nostalrius vanilla code will basically be the new mangos for anyone wanting to start a private server.

I honestly believe this will have very little effect on the private server community. Feenix as far as I'm aware is done with vanilla servers, and retroWoW could possibly use it. But who would really play on a new server that is default mangos/nost? Not many. This is why people are looking forward to crestfall because they have differentiated themselves from their competitors by creating their own code based off of mangos.

According to them they made it from scratch and it has nothing to do with Mangos.

As we know Blizzard sent the C&D letter to OVH not nost directly, they just got it forwarded from OVH and decided to shut it down.

Does anyone know for how long Valkyrie-wow has had OVH as their host?
Does OVH take action other than informing the guys behind the hosting request?

My question is: Is there a chance the server gets taken offline without Elysium deciding to take it down themselves, which they said they wont? Im just curious.

For those who still think Elysium is based in Russia, just trace the realmlist ip, it ends at OVH in France.

The first 40 pages consists of people bashing Nost, then around page 40 everyone turned around and started calling people shitheads for whining. Very strange to me..

I have a personal problem with the decision Nost have taken. People say to read between the lines, but what I'm gathering from it, is the Nost admins don't want to partake anymore, and move all their shit to some random Russians, and they've allowed their devs (or whatever you wanna call them) to go there as well. To me it looks like they've given up.

Now; I know you're probably thinking about the legal issues and all that, and I'm well aware of it. They can't just launch a new server in a country with the whole 'cease and desist' thing. But what they could've done, is spend these past months looking for a new suitable host in a country where they would be safe from the grasp of Blizzard.

So to all the "shut up kid, be grateful for people using their spare time to give you a game to play!" people: I am absolutely grateful, no question about it. But I am well within my right to disagree with the decision Nost have taken.

I am still gonna try it out (sometime in the next decade I assume), but I don't have high hopes for it, or any hope for that matter.
