Servers such as these do not gain popularity through traditional marketing means. Most if not all new members find their way here via word of mouth. Friends telling friends that then go on to tell more friends! That means the more people play to begin with the bigger the snowball effect will be and the more new players will steadily join the community.
Agree. Currently I am playing on Kronos (Nos overpopulation drove me off). Of the 33 guild members online 20 minutes before the PvE test, NOBODY had a clue what am i talking about, PvE what? Where? Same thing in /world chat. After announcing the event, I got an avalanche of whispers asking about details and how could they give their support to the test. So, there are many players on other servers interested to play on an PvE server but have no clue such thing exist/is about to be launched. I suppose all those homeless players from Ascension Wow (PvE server that was closed recently) have no information about the test either.
The 1720 people online are NOT an accurate representative number of potential players on the PvE server.
There will be many more in time.
Contrary to some other opinions,i do not believe that PvE wow-ers are getting bored too fast. On the contrary, on PvE servers people usually play more casually, no need to rush things. lvl 60? I am there when I am there. No need to rush to 60 to start raiding ASAP and farm epixx so I can be PvP competitive. take it slow.
