What makes you think people did that for fun? People did that simply so that they could out-compete other's honor farm for the week.
I mean, no one farms wintersaber trainers rep for fun. Its incredibly boring. They do it because they want a certain result.
I don't understand why people make the mistake of thinking the "premaders" were happy with the previous queue system. Anyone who could type /invite, group queue to ab, had a macro to univite group 3, group queue to wsg, and had a macro to reinvite those kicked in group 3 could farm just as much honor.
So essentially the "afkmade" was born, which had absolutely nothing to do with any kind of ability or whatever, only play time. Of course, vanilla honor system is focused around play time, but to get the most out of your play time to out compete people, you have to at least be competent. This was not true with the previous system.
Of course, all this stems from the fact that the vanilla honor system was inherently flawed to begin with. There's absolutely no changes that can be made to retain its "blizzlikeness" and be reasonable to the "average" player.
