Was it "may" release the source code before? Maybe they're in real legal trouble here, I had assumed it would be over after they complied with the c&d. This sounds like they're trying to appease Blizzard but holding a threat over their head.

What will happen if Blizzard gives up under such pressure and will say "whatever, we wont sue you, go on with your little server". Will we see Nost back?

Thanks guys for a great experience. You did more for the WoW community than anyone could expect from anyone else then Blizzard themselves. :)

And for everyone who claims that the Nostalrius team is pussying out, please go right ahead and make your own private server in a 3rd world country. Since its soooo simple and you're soooo brave and dont care if a multi million company like Activision/Blizzard is gonna economically ruin the rest of your life.

source code may be released 30th of April

..don't like where this seems to be heading. I really hope they give back to the mangos community who gave them so much to begin with. As far as I know, not a single successful private server has ever given back by sharing improvements to code or scripts. I hope the ugly fame-hording greed monster doesn't end up permeating things in the nost postmortem too.

Thank you Viper, Daemon and all the developers and GMs of Nostalrius. You guys don't get nearly enough credit for all the effort you put into Nostalrius, and I'm not talking only about Nost's scripting. It was thanks to you guys that this wonderful community came together. All your efforts in keeping the game fair, all the bug fixes, all the GM support, the research to ensure the remains even better than Blizz-like, and so much more.

I believe that if Blizzard has any respect for their fans and community, they should reward you. If anything, Nostalrius gave WoW a better reputation in my eye, and the eyes of hundreds of thousands of people than retail and Blizzard currently do.

You have my infinite respect and gratitude.

That letter is our best chance it seems. Unfortunately I don't believe in fairy tale, where one of the biggest gaming corporation takes back its action. Too much pride put on the scales. So I guess that is it :(

Even BBC has made a report about Nost:

Really sucks to see it given up so fast :/
