Destrolocks (aka Firelocks) are great in PvP, but require a lot more skill, are squishier, and need gear to be effective.

The question is what single spell would you like to spam more for 1+ year until the end of naxx? Shadowbolt or fireball/frostbolt?

At least in PvE thats what you will be doing with both class.

Mage for PvP. Mages have supreme utility in PvP, and are almost like EQ style ENCs that, depending on gear, hit like a truck, a train, or a truck with a train attached to it. Finally, only level 60 Mages may call upon the Magical, Mystical, Awesome and Almighty power of Mr. Wigles.

Finally, if you roll Alliance, go Gnome or go Home. Gnomes have killer PvP racials, +15 bonus to Swagger rating, and only they qualify as Magnificent Lil' Bastards.
