Allowable Debuffs for Optimal Raid DPS

Debuff slot management is important for DPS.
With patch 1.7, this is a list of allowable debuffs for optimal raid DPS:

Warlocks
    3 Curses (COE, COS, COR)
    2 Corruptions
    Imp. Shadowbolt Debuff
    Shadowburn

Mages
    Ignite
    Fireball
    Scorch/Winter’s Chill

Shadow Priest
    Shadow Weaving
    Mindflay
    * Rank 1 SWP (only if OOM)

Rogues
    None
*Garrote is an acceptable opener in many circumstances.

Druids
    Faerie Fire
    Growl

Hunters
    Ideally nothing.
Expose Weakness / Hunter’s Mark are fine, if you’ve got several hunters.

Warriors
    Sunder Armor
    Taunt
    Thunderfury
    Deep Wounds
    Nightfall

Shaman
    Nightfall

Paladins
    Nightfall
*BOL/BOW (only in niche situations ex: Loatheb)

Q: What about X debuff?
A If you want to maximize your raid DPS, debuffs not included in this list should be avoided. When you see anything but the allowable debuffs on the boss, you’re usually watching your raid DPS being lowered.

Q: Mitigation debuffs?
A: If your healers don’t need things to be easier, mitigation debuffs shouldn’t be used. (Demo shout, thunderclap, etc.) If your tanks are too cheap to buy stoneshield potions, are undergeared, or are raiding with few healers, feel free to use mitigation debuffs.

Q: What about with a different raid composition?
A: This list of debuffs applies to a ‘normal’ raid composition. In extreme circumstances, some debuffs would get cut. For example, with one mage in the raid, you could drop COE for another corruption. With no melee in the raid, you could drop COR and faerie fire for corruption. (Yes, anything that gets removed should be replaced with corruption.)

Q: Gift of Arthas? Crystal Ward?
A: Gift of Arthas isn't worth applying, except on Twins. You can use Crystal Ward with melee-heavy groups, ideally in place of Hunter’s Mark. Its armor reduction stacks with sunder/faerie/COR.

Q: Why two corruptions?
A:If you try to use more than two corruptions, the third is very likely to push another corruption, or get pushed off before it finishes ticking. (Had mixed success with using 3 corruptions on other realms, but experts maintain 2 is the optimal number -- try with your own raid.)

Add-Ons
Debuff management is serious business. You can use Snelf's Smart Debuff Check to ensure these debuffs are always up on the boss. Just type /sdc to get a report of what's up and what isn't. The addon is also smart enough to check your raid comp, so it won’t bother you about curses if you don’t have a warlock, etc.

I'll bump this thread in 5 weeks when someone might care about optimizing for 16 slots.

If a guild lacks thunderfury, would Icy chill a suitable substitute in your mind? Apparently bosses are affected by the debuff (from what I hear).

Judgement of the Crusader :P

PS It's not BoL and BoW - it's Judgement of Light (JoL) and Judgement of Wisdom (JoW)

With running 2 warrior OTs with nightfall/icy weapon, the proc for 25%attack speed is up a lot. Will be getting our last OT one as well.

OT need to be ready to Thunderclap after icey falls off because it overwrites it.

Even when we get TF, we will continue to have this setup.

Rip is a bleed that gets pushed off of the queue when other bleed effects are applied like Deep Wounds.
