A bit of help for a beginner

Hello everyone, I played vanilla a long time ago when I was quite young but not seriously, just running around being a stupid kid.

I stopped playing before tbc and recently tried to get into WoW again to relive old memories. I was absolutely horrified when I logged on to the current WoW and saw the many ways that Blizz had messed up my childhood memories. Luckily I found Nostalrius.

I played a druid back in the day because I thought it was "cool" that I could play as a cat or bear but now I'm interested in trying out raiding, unfortunately I know absolutely nothing about the classes, I only know that there are a few unplayable specs.

So, I don't care if the class/spec doesn't exactly top the damage meters, I'm just looking for a class that can hold it's own in both pve and pvp and is also genuinely fun to play. Role doesn't really matter to me.

There is a minor restriction though, I lost two of my fingers on my left hand in an accident when I was little so I'm not sure but that might put some limitations on what I can play.

Considering the finger complication I recommend mage/warlock. The execution is the most straightforward of all classes (most of the time you just press one button heh).

Other classes will be harder to manage. HOWEVER you can get around the problem to some extent and play just about any class if you get a mouse with many buttons and abuse that rather than rely on left hand keyboard binds.

Regardless of your accident, to cover this and more, I would recommend getting a gaming.mouse that has the 12 button grid on the thumb.

I use this, and has three action bars layed out to mirror this. Left 3x4 grid is 1-12. Mid 3x4 grid is SHIFT + 1-12, right 3x4 grid is CONTROL + 1-12.

That is 36 buttons on your right hand to use. This will allow you to turn with mouse while using abilities on thumb. Your limited left hand can be used for minor positioning of character such as forward, strife left or right. Of to use the shift / control modifiers.


These types of mice usually are 60+ dollars but is the best investment i have made.

One of caster classes I would suggest. Priest can be both viable as Shadow in both PvE and PvP. Hunter can work as well. Basically as long as it is not a melee class you should be fine. Welcome back to Vanilla.
