Bug or not bug?

Heey guys im curious if someone can help me out here.

I had the quest for the succubus it required me to get the heartswood item from a monster in Ashenvale, i killed it did that i logged out of my account and did not play for 2 days or so. Afterwards my quest for the heartswood just dissapeared from my quest log. I still had the item on me tho, so i thought i might be able to do the binding quest. Wel basicly i could not. Hoping it would reset the quest after i destroyed heartswood, and wel basicly now im stuck without a quest and without a succubus to show for it .

Any ideas ?

Heartswood is not obtained from a monster, there is a giant tree in the area you are supposed to loot, its surrounded by a bunch of level 18 cultists with demons, loot the heartswood.
