Players from Australia.

by Trekky » Wed Oct 21, 2015 1:24 am

Hey guys.

Just started here and really enjoying it. I'd love to know if anyone else from Aus or anywhere has a way to lower their latency in game? I'm currently on about 350 in game, assuming it's because the servers are from europe as I run about 20 latency on retail.

Any help would be great.

Cheers! 8-)

Yeah I am also Australian, on about 350 min...
I don't believe there is much you can do unfortunately as its a distance thing :(
You get used to it however.. many Australians still raid without a problem.. not sure about pvp..

Yeah I'm adjusting slowly from 20 ping to 350. It's not a massive problem questing and dungeons but yeah just thinking in terms of pvp. I'll just have to adapt!

it's a distance issue, however you can pay for tunneling services. They usually help to decrease the latency a bit

Brizzy Noster here.
On Crummy 7mbps/1Mbps ADSL2+ with "low latency" profile.

Peak times Australia my latency sits on 330-350ms.
Ping to my ISP is usually 30-40ms
Ping to the Live Oceanic servers located in Sydney is 30-40 as well thanks to ISP tunneling.

Back when the live servers were located in the US my latency used to wander, everything from 250-ish up to 500 on bad days.
I used a number of tunneling services, but none could provide reliable service, many had weird side effects:
eg. open world questing/dungeons were good, but get in a raid with 25 people and all my button pushes would totally lag out, with my action bar ending up looking like a Christmas tree with queued actions!

Nost latency is pretty stable, so I don't feel I'm suffering on too much.
