Everquest Vanilla

So the developers of Everquest decided to give their fanbase a present. As of today, you can play Everyquest Vanilla (1999!) on a new server which went online just now (see stream here http://www.twitch.tv/everquestlive).

Here is more information -> https://www.everquest.com/news/ragefire ... ay-20-2015

Now as for myself, I have never played this game, but I have friends who used to play this when they were only teenagers back in 1999 and for them this is like going back in time - to a great time of their youth.

Wow Vanilla lovers are not that lucky though. They have to build up private servers of their own to be able to play WoW Vanilla, only to see them taken down by Blizzard themselves. This was and is very frustrating. Apparently, Blizzard doesn't care as much about their fans because if they did, we wouldn't have to struggle so much for a good Vanilla server (at this point: Thank you so much Nostalrius-Team and please: keep it up!).

The only bad part of this is that you actually have to pay a fee of about 15 $ to play Everquest Vanilla, while the original game has been free for a few years now. Since this is a rather old game (1999), I wonder how many will actually pay the price to be able to play Everquest again.

Not the same as classic a lot of the newer stuff they added later in the game is present in this version. I'd go with Project 1999 is you wanna play the closest to classic there is, but you probably already know about that server. $15 a month is a lot in today's market to play a game, gone are the days of the subscription MMO.
