anyone else play because of nervousness on other games?

i started playing on nostalrius because i was tired of the games i had been playing up until now, for the most part twitchy games that seem to be making me get early parkinsons. i've noticed im just a lot calmer on nostalrius. it's kind of like what I imagine smoking weed is like. grinding it out in hillsbrad is like cutting a banzai tree, i haven't even really touched a quest since like level 17.

it reminds me a bit of when i used to play Last Chaos in high school, anyone remember that shit? just grinding for hours on end while chatting with people is a lot better than doing this shit all day (you can see at 1:36 how bad my shakiness gets when i play other games)

has nostalrius helped anyone else break the habit of playing games that are less healthy for them?

Since I left retail wow this server is only game i used to enjoy last month. I really have no time to play other games because of my lifestyle. Especially action-based. I was looking for quiet and nice game, just to relax... just to play nice and easy... No nervousness, no troubles...

Thats what this is for. While i dont have "nervousness" playing other games, i have to admit there is nothing quite like a populated vanilla server when it comes to chilling out.
After a busy day, a beer, a cig and 1-2 hours playing wow meeting all kinds of people from all over the world having a fun time really hits the spot:-)

I'm currently stuck at lvl 381 of candy crush and it's pissing me off.... Strolling through Felwood looking for herbs is so much more relaxing.

Also play Company of Heroes 2, Red Orchestra 2, Pillars of Eternity, Bloodborne, CS Gold. No nervousnessapprehension or whatever you call it. Just have to know what to look out/for.

I played on the Project 1999 EverQuest server before migrating here. While I love EQ and my guild of metalhead buddies <Dio>, I sort of realized it wasn't the game meant for me. EverQuest pretty much IS grouping, which I found myself doing to work towards some other thing, be that getting to another set of spells, or readhing level 20 to get a surname, but never for the actual grouping itself. I spent more time wandering around cities looking for merchants who sold small bronze pieces than actually being productive. After reviewing my options, I said my farewells and headed somewhere I felt at home, somewhere where roleplay exists and I don't have to beg for a bind and a SoW for a corpse run.

Grondrak, Boggart, Baeldar, Tytan/Roshinden/Kowloon, Eskku, Tael/Fael/Saelmrie, Xornn/Drekaar, and all of <Dio> will be in my memories and soul forever. You guys are the greatest online friends I've ever had. \m/

You sound like an excellent candidate to start smoking weed. Sounds like you're having some serious anxiety attacks, maybe visit a doctor?

I'm not making fun either, I used to have rather bad anxiety issues, I didn't go on meds or anything I just had to learn to deal with it and soak it in, mind over matter. It still hasn't fully gone away as I sometimes get random waves, but I've very rarely had an anxiety attack or felt nervous playing a video game. Anything from face-paced shooters or games like League to laid back grindy games like WoW or Everquest have always been my go-to for mellowing or pumping up my mood.

My advice is to throw something like a movie or marathon a TV show you like in the background or have some music you like playing, but ya real serious about trying out the Mary-Jane you'll be surprised how much that helps. If you're opposed to partaking, maybe a beer or two to wind down would help.

I'm playing because I enjoy the memories. I just feel happy when playing on this server. It's very cathartic. I'm currently playing XIV, but I come to this server for just a few hours just to get away from all the daily grind in it, and when I'm here it's like I'm back home. I do play a crap load of other games though and iIlike the stress sometimes. I like to play Insurgency when I want stress and adrenaline.
