Operation: Save Nostalrius

by sanserof » Mon Jun 01, 2015 12:06 pm

As we all know the population of Nostalrius is extremely high, a private server has never been this populated ever before. This is a bad thing since WoW servers aren't designed for a population this high, even a retail server wouldn't be able to handle a population like this. As a result most quests are simply undoable since mobs are getting spawncamped, world PvP has gone out of control, Mining and Herbalism are pretty much dead professions since the nodes are being camped, etc.

Since the Nostalrius Devs are too busy developing the server, they are unable to do anything about this population problem. This is why we as a playerbase must do something about it. My last proposition of banning a random thousand people wasn't so popular, and that's why I have come with a new plan: Systematically bullying new players from the server.

Kill all their mobs so they can't level up. Kill their quest givers so they can't turn in their quests. Gank them. Harras them until they decide to leave the server for good, because all they do is cause trouble. This is the only way we can save Nostalrius, a server which is very dear to me.

So, who's with me?!

An even better idea is to not let players that are 60 be allowed to play since they already had their fill of playtime.

If we ban you, population will become lower which is good for the server. Dont you agree?

I agree, if the devs won't take any countermeasures, it's up to us, the community, to help fix this problem.

Here are my suggestions:

1) Reduce time to boot for AFK players in the open world - 10 minutes AFK in open world, but leave it st 30 minutes for people in instances.

2) Set a maximum server capacity of 7,000. This is painful, but 7,000 seems to be about the point that this start getting funky. Anyone that tries to join after 7,000 gets placed in the queue.

3) Open a second server and allow free transfers from the get-go.

That's all I can come up with. Randomly banning 1,000 players is a stupid bandage fix and mercilessly gabking lowbies is just a waste of time and anti-fun. I know you're just trolling OP, but they're still absolutely awful ideas.

If you want to completely fuck the first server, then do this

I've played with the server at 8-9k and it's smooth.. I don't get the problem with so many new players questing, to be honest it's really cool that there is competition as it keeps me running for the next objective, etc.
