Queue or another hardware upgrade seem like the best choices - tweaking the software has only been a slight improvement. One Idea I've seen was to add more hardware to handle instances only, but keep the single realm (I love having this many players on a realm.) I think they already did a dynamic spawn rate for mobs where players are camping, but it sounds like people might still be having problems with that...
The problem with a queue is it acts as a deterrent for some players to log on & play regularly. I enjoy having a lot of people online, personally.

3) Open a second server and allow free transfers from the get-go.

They should open new server and then allow transfers from a server to another only after some months it has been opened and only if things doesn't balance out themselves.

I hope something happens about this, since Kronos failed "stealing" some population from here... it is becoming painful.

I am afraid it can't be fixed with just new hardware. Hardware have limits too.

Make a PvE server, I guarantee no 60's will leave and a majority of new people will play there to feel like nothing on the server has been done.

Some people found Nostalrius simply because the population was so big, Peenix was able to run 2 1.12 servers, I think with BWL release there should be a PvE server relased

Now if we could just get the addon bugged people un-muted would be great, half a dozen tickets and a forum post don't see to do the job.

sanserof wrote:As we all know the population of Nostalrius is extremely high, a private server has never been this populated ever before. This is a bad thing since WoW servers aren't designed for a population this high, even a retail server wouldn't be able to handle a population like this. As a result most quests are simply undoable since mobs are getting spawncamped, world PvP has gone out of control, Mining and Herbalism are pretty much dead professions since the nodes are being camped, etc.
!

your analysis of the server's state is wrong, hence your solutions are absurd.

If you can't handle this server I am sorry for you but it seems to me more and more people do without any need to whine about it.

Problem will sort itself out in 1-2 months. If you don't believe 1x rates servers don't suffer massive attrition, look at the census.

Ok here's the plan.
We all kill ourselves at the same time. If nobody cheats and doesn't do it then we won't have population issues anymore. I'll have to do it last of course to make sure everybody follows through.

Nostalrius is different mate. Never has a private server ever been this popular.

There are two big drop offs in the population. level 20 and level 40. Almost half of the census is between 1-20. It's just a phase, and will taper down as people realize how horrible vanilla leveling is.
