Why hasnt this server received a DMCA threat yet

I don't think Blizzard can issue a DMCA, because any server that is running an old expansion of World of Warcraft falls under the category of "Abandon Ware", so they no longer have any license or legal issues connected with it, at least I think so...

On a side note, I'm thinking of playing on this server. I never played Vanilla WoW, I started playing from WOTLK, and I'm not sure if I'd have the patience for this, or the nerves, but it does sound fun with so many people playing and to feel that feeling that old players felt playing Vanilla. What do you guys think?

You are all making it sound like EU are some kind of exodus for criminals like Cuba and such. Most countries in the EU have agreements with the US, so that criminals can be send there and tried. Hence why Assange (the Wikipedia guy) are in asylum in that 3rd world embassy (because Sweden where his alleged crimes are commited, will most likely send him to the US). There are many cases as such - The Pirate Bay being the most prominent. So to say, this server is safe for all eternity, would be foolish. All we can do, is to enjoy the moment.

Extradition isn't relevant at all. If the servers are in Europe, then that is where the crime is committed. (If one can call this a crime) You generally don't go to court in the USA for a crime that's committed outside of the USA. You would go to court in the country where the crime was committed and that country's laws would apply.

Blizzard just doesn't really give a fuck anymore. Look at Molten-wow. Big community. Up for years.
New servers pop up faster than they can take them down is also a possibility.

It may fall under Abandon Ware, but their title "World of Warcraft" still falls under copyright law (still paid by Blizzard) so essentially, using their client, initials (WoW) or even the term "World of Warcraft" anywhere on the site/game is a breach to their copyright and they can issue a take down notice. Seeing as the servers are hosting an older client, they still, do unfortunately use their copyright without permission.

People believed that Molton-WoW and Blizzard came to a "understanding", but that was never true, and It'll be like this for this server.

I forever hope that this server never goes down. Especially the technology used and made for it. To host 9 thousand people on-line at once (even Blizzard can't do that) is astonishing. Maybe, Blizzard might learn something.

Actually, Molten is still running, they are just now under a new name "Warmane". They decided to merge with Arena-Tournament, that's why the name change. But alas, all great servers must come to end, so will Warmane one day, you can already notice there being fewer players there, and it got boring after the hijack...

Blizzard hasn't shutdown a private server in years. They don't care anymore. To those saying they couldn't shut one down outside of the US you are wrong.
