Yeah, Firelands was disappointing. It was a nice idea, having a kind of "open" raid instead of a linear one, but all of the bosses were meh, and just felt like trash pulls before Ragnaros, due to the huge gap in difficulty.

Rag heroic however, was really fun and challenging.

But then we got Dragon Soul which was fucking terrible. And I quit halfway through that tier so I really don't know much about the panda expansion.

Its funny how every loves TBC, for me it was one of the worse expansions. I simply hated that world - Raids were okay and the dungeons, except tempest keep because fuck steampunk. I loathe steampunk so much.

But the outland world were so meh and blah.

Classic is good, I like wrath as well. Everything else is just meh.

for me 10/10 for vanilla.

And i don't really see what you guys see good in tbc, it's expansion where it all the bads laid their roots.

I'll just copy/paste my response from other topic.
"1. Epics are epics - no other mmo cant provide you that feeling.
2. No hotkey based queue content - only AA comes close to vanilla wow here
3. Best open world pvp experience ever
4. Not everyone can have everything. I know I won't be able to get into some raids cuz of my free time and generally my gaming attitude and that is JUST FINE. Not everything should be accessible to everyone. Know your place in the world.
5. Overall difficulty. Yes, boss mechanics are some basic stuff in compare to WoD or whatever, but seriously... Every boss fight past tbc is faceroll or very close to it. And that is only because players are overpowered even before they get to the boss. Avoiding fire and some telegraphs on ground or whatever isn't what I consider a challenge. Lets log into my Wildstar account and see how many times I'll stay in red :P Avoiding stuff is easy "super-mario" like mechanics. Vanilla-wow provides you with challenge of preparation, team coordination and patience! Only because of that, I can tell that I respect PvE players almost equally as PvP players here, which isn't a case on any other game."

Pretty much this, the casualization started in late BC continued through Wrath, which turned the game into cheap garbage.
Dungeon finder, easy epics, the first hints of pay-to-win with that flying horse mount all cheapened the experience, imo.

Wrath up to season7 > TBC > Vanilla > cata > MoP

why wrath on top?

- Achievements were a great addition as reward / feeling of success
- PvP was the most balanced in season 7
- The endgame content still was difficult
- quick paced game style, allowing a high pvp skill cap and making it more fun

TBC as #2 mostly because of arena but also because of various other game improvements

to answer OP's question:
I'd give it a 8.5/10 over current retail

Vanilla 10/10..Coz it doesn't need high system requirement that I can play it on my crappy laptop and decently slow internet connection
And the population for low level players is amazing

Can anyone explain me why almost everyone prefers TBC over vanilla? TBC has no longer that feeling of the dangerous world, neither 40man raids or ranked pvp...

Achievements are utter crap if you ask me... giving purpose to most stupid stuff.
*omg I used a bandage* - ach.unlocked.

Your character progression and honorable kills count should be picturing your characters progress. Not ach.points score.

One guy pointed out low system reqs. That is huge plus too.
Tell me please which game kept you as much as this game did JUST cuz it had a fancy graphics??
Wildstar is most recent example - bad looking game with much higher system reqs.
I see nothing bad with vanilla wow looks. Still has better movement animations than 90% of mmos today.

I assume you mean the honor-grind ranking system. BC replaced this with arena, which was a big hit at the time (followed by never ending balance issues).

People are split over the 40 man vs 25 man raids, but people agree that BC raids were hard. I think the number of guilds that finished Sunwell was about the same as finished Naxx. The tier 4 and 6 tiers of raiding were amazing. Tier 5 was very challenging, but some didn't like the art style of the raids.

BC brought an overhaul of many talent specs that are frankly terrible in vanilla. Overall, it added polish to the original game which can sometimes feel a bit rough around the edges - without decreasing the overall difficulty and making pure PvP a more viable playstyle with arenas.
