I agree with this, WoW is just the tip of the iceberg - as the technology contuinues to grow people will find new ways to incorporate MMO games with that. MMO's are just one type of app/idea that people will use with whatever technology is available. Think back to the MUDs that were written on top of 70's & 80's computer platforms, and WoW built on top of computers from 15 years ago, to WoD/Legion running on more powerful graphics, faster/bigger networks & multicore CPUs with more memory that are easily available today.
The WoW story & game (or something similar) might come around in the future in another form to fit different tech.
The OP has a point though, the trend has shifted away from what Pardo, etc created many years ago. Maybe it will swing back towards true MMOs one day. Blizzard started marketing "convenience" as a way to keep the cash cow alive.

I'm glad. Blizzard's current team seems incompetent. I'm happy here, and I'm glad Nostalrius saw the value in this project.

Honestly, thats fine. As much as I would like to have an offical legacy server I have zero faith in thr current Bluzzard team. They are already doing huge cuts to the current game so I can only imagine how bad legacy servers would be implemented. I'll take Nost and its passion over thr current Blizzard any day.

Also there are plenty good MMOs coming soon: Lost Ark, Lineage Eternal, Star Citizen, TC Division, Tree of Savior, Dragon Dogma Online.

That's not exclusive for mmorpg's, can be said for anything gaming related rly! the future!

Yeah, this too. Even when they rush an expansion and have almost no content in it, they still leave us waiting 10-14 months in the final raid patch, until the next expansion. GG blizz.

This is taken from a pure business point of view.

If you have 5 million people willing to pay for 10-14 months of subscription, would you release content faster? No you wouldn't. As long as they have a stable playerbase, willing to keep subscribed, nothing is going to change.

Blizzard's viewpoint & passion for games has dramatically changed over the last decade. They no longer want to create the best possible version of the game, they just want people to have easy acess to them.
