The idea of starting over on Kronos after losing everything here... makes me feel ill. The only way I would ever consider playing there is if they released a brand new server.

Release to the community like originally planned.. I understand them endorsing a server but they should really release it to the whole community. It's better to have a few good servers to pick from than just one. Open source is the best for the community.

I have to disagree. I would feel much better if the Nost devs talked things out with a team they consider trustworthy rather than releasing the whole thing for anyone to use with whatever intentions they have.

Intentions? What bad could come of this? Nostalrius uses encrypted passwords and emails so unless you enter your information into these servers you will be fine. All a server would have to do is create a password reset script using your email and username. No one would have access to your original password.

I've been around the private server community for along time. Nostalrius was build on open source... If you want to see the wow vanilla community grow and evolve then you want open source.

if there is a nostalrius 2.0 thats not in danger to be taken down, it will be just as full again.

there currently is no server for vanilla nor for tbc that is as good as nost was in terms of blizzlike, policy and quality.

even more since nostalrius is so popular due to all the medial newsreports, if they officially announce to open or support another/new server, it will skyrocket

Yeah keeping the community as a whole would be great but what about blizzard? The only way they should keep the database private is If they stay together and join or create a server with protection from bliz. If not release the server files so we can create a new world or attempt to recreate the old.
