Playing on Kronos too.

- Starting areas are easy compared to Nost pvp/pve at release
- Had no dc/rollback yet in the past 4 days of ~5h playing a day
- Community wise it's the same, met many nice people and some scrubs too
- Some things are better than on nostalrius, rogue stealth mechanics as an example
- Yes they have somewhat of a shop but economy/ah prices seem healthier than nostalrius pvp
- Saw 2 mobs stuck in textures but I've seen that on nostalrius too but only like 5 times in a year
- View distance is normal
- No lags (European player here)
- Their forum is shitty compared to nostalrius
- The rate at which weapon skills increase seems to be slightly higher than normal but no confirmation on this
- Only met 1 Goldseller
- Every quest worked like it should

In conclusion I still think Nostalrius is/was superior (the rogue stealth mechanics aside) but for now I'm happy to have a new home and play lagfree with alot of friendly players. If Nostalrius would rise from the ashes I'd come back but it's very unlikely.

Kronos is indeed the best option at the moment.

PlayTBC "launch" yesterday was a complete disaster (as many expected) so even if that server does eventually become playable, it probably won't amount to much because yesterday was such a fail it turned a lot of people off. Their staff showed a lot of incompetence and immaturity during the launch debacle, which doesn't exactly fill me with faith about investing time there.

Kronos scripting overall is not as good as Nostalrius. However there are some things they've done very nicely. For example, LoS is scripted better on Kronos than any private server I have ever seen. It's not Blizzlike for every single tree/rock to be LoS, but it drastically improved gameplay quality especially in PvP. Engineering is also scripted much better on Kronos than it was on Nostalrius.

There are definitely a lot of things about Kronos that I don't like, and starting from scratch on a 1 year old Vanilla server is pretty bleh, but in terms of quality/population/staff professionalism it is the best place to play right now hands down.

Maybe PlayTBC will get their shit together and turn out great (but I doubt it). And maybe CoreCraft will release before I am 80 years old (but I doubt it).

Joined Kronos last night, joined a Nost guild, and have been having a great time, with lots of laughs n giggles.. Maybe there are some bugs here and there (have yet to encounter them), but with it being the only real alternative at this point, Ill take them for granted.. Like a poster before me said; it might be a long time before we see/if we see a Nost 2.0 server pop up with a capable team..

You guys go sit in a corner being grumpy, while the rest of us have a good time together on Kronos.. /shrug..

That may be true, but we don't want to invest more time in characters we can't keep. And Kronos won't last long term for a few reasons already mentioned. WoW isn't that fun just to "play for a bit". Its fun to progress and build a character, but not if you know it wont last for a significant amount of time when the server dies, gets shut down, or something better inevitably gets released like Nostalrius 2 or a TBC server.

I agree its a possibility.. However Blizzard is experiencing a PR disaster at the moment with Nost/some other communities going full on the offensive in the last week. Maybe they won't budge on legacy servers, however they might be a bit more careful on closing down big vanilla servers this time around.. I doubt they feel this enormous backlash was worth the trouble.. But I guess time will tell..

I don't like to think I might lose all my progression again in a few months.. However I will have had a great time.. Its always a hard choice to invest or not..

But then if you think you can keep your progress on any private server forever, you might be a little delusional.. If you want to save your progress forever, have 'fun' with retail...

I've been playing since 8 years on private servers and none of them was anything close to kronos or even nostalrius. And still we had the fun of our lives, raided and formed friendships.

A well scripted server is great but some minor bugs don't matter to most.

there is one bug that im actually enjoying while leveling, pet threat generating abilities (torment, growl) are broken and are WAY overtuned. 2 torments and gl ripping aggro off my VW

Not that it's really that important, but they've greatly reduced the view distance in the past week. Sad news for old Kronos players (though reduced view distance >>>>> lag), but I guess it seems it's still an improvement to how low Nost had to put it.

Also the weapon skill increase rate is off atm. I remember leveling my skills there 6 months ago and it took me ages. Now it's really quick. But perhaps that's not exactly game breaking.

I really don't like using this word but I think in this case it is very appropriate: Fuck Kronos. That community is toxic beyond belief. Their contempt for Nostalrius is no secret in forum postings. This is how they welcomed Nost refuges. Why would anyone want to play on a server that is openly hostile towards you and, because it's PVP, able to make your game play miserable?

P.S. Stop using KRONOStalrius. That's misleading. Nostalrius doesn't officially recognize any kind of "merger" with Kronos.

P.P.S. Nostalrius, not Kronos - not Rebirth - not PlayTBC - not any other private server, is responsible for forcing Blizzard to acknowledge legacy servers is something a lot of people want.
