Just as the title says. Why do you prefer vanilla over retail WoW?

Retail is far too easy, too linear, too rewarding, and too single player in nature. Just about every quest is soloable, levels 1 - 90 are a cakewalk that can be done in a week, people login solely to sit in their garrisons and wait for queues to pop, and everyone does their weekly LFR to get their welfare epics and then logout. There's virtually no community or social aspect left in it anymore.

Sums it up nicely.

I would also like to add that the class variety has greatly diminished to the point that it really doesn't matter what you play.

The amount of sheer vitriol towards every single change Blizzard makes drove me away. I couldn't stand playing something so hated.

I dislike garrisons too. I don't sit in my real house all day to sit in a virtual house all day.

All of these points, although I do miss being able to play around more solo. I realize it's unlikely we'll get another server due to the potential of two ghost town servers instead of one big population server but man I miss my nice quiet alone time in areas sometimes even though I like playing with people more than half the time too.

Because of the forced pace in Vanilla, you're forced to immerse more and I like that. It also really wants to bring out the roleplayer in me (though I've yet to stumble across RP guilds yet).
