Stormrage

So this launched today. I went to check it out and there were like 250 people on at launch with numbers dwindling from then on. At this moment there's about 75 online.

The server had all the same bugs Nost did on day one plus some more surprising ones like you have almost no mana regen for some reason. Also someone duped gold right away. Not very promising.

I feel a bit sorry for their devs because they probably worked hard and don't deserve for their project to be a total failure, but I can't see how it won't be. The Nost PvE server comes out in a week and it's clear that almost nobody chose Stormrage. They had no hype, their core isn't as good as Nost, and they have no numbers.

It did make me a bit worried for Nost PvE, though. What if it isn't nearly as popular as people expected? Stormrage had like 5k people signed up to their community and only 5% of them logged in at launch.

Also they had over twice as many alliance as horde.

My only worry about Nost new server is the queue.

Stormrage is no indication of what Nost PvE will be. Nost is an anomaly, an aberrational juggernaut that shows no sign of slowing down.

I gave Stormrage a shot, leveled a Troll Mage to 10 and a Human Rogue to 10.

There are some positives I can say about the server. The GM's were quick to respond to technical issues and fix them, and overall the scripting seems pretty good.

However, I'd say it's merely comparable to Nost on the technical side, and this with only about 100 players total right now. Not objectively superior. The lackluster launch is going to kill that server, and the Nost PVE server release will steal any thunder that it has left.

For comparisons sake, the short 30 minute test that Nost ran had about 1000+ players online, and that was released on short notice and openly stated to be temporary. So in the end, I highly doubt that the Nostalrius PVE server will have the same issue.

...and already over. They close this evening.
Maybe they could join forces with Nost team in the future

"Dear Ragers!

It's about time for a statement from my side. As many of you might already have noticed, the outcome of this project is not as good as some of us might have expected.

The player activity on the realm is low, no discussion about that. I decided that this has to end before you and we are putting more effort into this project.

So I decided to close our realm at 20:00 CEST today.

The Stormrage Project Team and especially I are really sad that it didn't turn out as expected for everyone.

Thanks for your trust and patience.

Yours, Junia"

Even though the attidute and the mentality of the devs. of the SP was appreciable, their strategy was fail all aong the project. You can't expect to players miraculously find out your realm and play with increasing numbers...

There were no PR , advertisement or even a single effort to be known were existent. At first i was sorry for the project but now i am amazed.. What the hell were they thinking? Another strategical mistake is being done by the closing of the server. In my opinion they should've wait at least for several weeks but it seems they had given up at the very beginning.

Anyways some diversity would be great but RIP SP.

Sheesh, server shut down 3 days after launch? Talk about dead on arrival. It seems clear now that the people who were running Stormrage had no idea what they were doing on the social end of things. MMO's are dependent on their community to reach success, you need to put just as much, if not more, effort in building and maintaining a community as you do with fixing bugs and writing scripts.

Well, at least there won't be any competition for the Nostalrius PVE server I suppose.

I think the same. It is really bad decision to shut down the server just becase they didn't have a good launch. In my opinion, it would be better to wait until Nost PvE appears. I think, that they would have more population in a future. Some players would leave Nost because it's overcrowded (especially on launch day), and they probably go to SP server. Also, they could just give more advertisement and attract more players after release. So, they just gave up too easily.

I suspect Stormrage devs decided to just play on Nost PvE

This. Just get the message (couldn't log in anymore) with my twink char in Loch Modan (couldn't find the related announcement in their forums).
Really disappointing... But hey, NOST starting next weekend with my main char on it.
