Text based Adventures

by mike1097 » Wed Mar 04, 2015 9:22 pm

Hello Guys,

I've explored a completely new genre for myself.
I've played a game that tolds you a story (full text) but I as the reader was able to choose what to do next.
I don't know how this genre is called exactly.
The game I've played is called "Choice of the Dragon". You can find it in the playstore.

Now my question. Do you have ever played something like that and do you maybe know some more titles?
I'd really like to do some more and use my fantasy.

It's called Multi-User-Dungeons or MUD for short.

You can check out http://www.mudconnect.com/ for starters.

You're talking about the old genre of Choose Your Own Adventure, which then evolved into adventure games and roleplaying games on computers. There are hundreds of Interactive Fiction titles that are similarly text-based, though most of them are far more linear than the CYOA books are.

Mike, check out "Sorcery!" and "Sorcery! 2" on Playstore. They cost a bit, but these are great adventures! The games are based on a RL series of books from the genre you mentioned in the post.

About 15 years ago I had books that kinda worked like this. You started on the first page, and you had to decide what to do next, where to go next. There were multiple choices, and you had to go to page #x based on your decision. It was my first encounter with RPG games. So much fun.
