I dual-mained mage and shaman for years on live, and it's what I'm working on here. Both are very strong supportive casters with a focus on control and a lot of utility. Mages are sometimes called a glass cannon, which is a good metaphor. The mage is the artillery piece that sits safely behind the main line providing damage and using area attacks to create chokepoints. The shaman is more like the combat engineer, whose job it is to provide mobile front-line support (slows, heals, buffs, dispels, damage) where it is needed on both offense and defense. This all assumes we are talking about pvp and not pve. In pve, your job is to press frost bolt or chain heal many times in a row until the boss dies and make sure not to fall asleep or stand in fire.
I also really like the shaman lore. They are much cooler spiritual leaders than paladins :p
Plus the Shaman class quests are about drinking peyote and talking to spirits and a bunch of other cool stuff. All the mage quests were about delivering bullcrap to that stupid bitch out in the middle of Dustwallow past all the spiders and elite crocodiles.
you think it be like it is but it's don't
