HI everybody, I'm lvl24 and I just wanted to ask if I could tank with a two handed weapon, because I'm starting to get bored to deal low damages (I've a correct one handed weapon, the sword from DM, which is better than others that I found, only two handed weapons looks stronger). I play with a friend who plays a druid dps, so can I tank when we're questing ? And in low levels raid ?

But you are not supposed to do damage as a tank, only hold the aggro. As a warrior your main spell will be sunder armor, not heroic strike. So no, don't tank with a 2-hander because you only take more damage and wont be able to use shield spells.

2h tanking while overgeared in full glass cannon mode and spamming /sit is some of the funnest stuff you can do in dungeons. It's also pretty lucrative considering that you can do sub 20min BRD emp runs and profit from the loot while selling the runs to people who are after HoJ. It's also a reasonable way to grind an Ironfoe.

But.... why?

Use a shield. Magic dealers will do the most damage to you, and you can shield bash them.

@Vido - if you are 60, Vis'kag + DMC:M w/ a shield on is best for speed running.

Why have a healer wasting mana on you cause you wanna do 20% more damage, when they can just dps too.

I think I'd prefer doing 1k+ dps on trash packs with a BRE arms specced. The 30s sweeping strikes cooldown lines up with every pack which gives you 9-10+ melee hits the instant you pull with WW and you basically have 100% uptime on 2.1k armor reduction.

You can stance dance between berserker and battle for WW/Pummel if you're worried about damage reduction. A geared healer will have mana for days and you can even be lazy and sit in zerker stance provided you do enough damage.

Yes you can tank with 2h weapon. The question is if the healer can keep you alive. And the answer to that question is heeeeell no.

I'd be more concerned with his threat then staying alive. (those 3s+ swing timers )
