My opinion:
In an attempt to cover an even larger market, Blizzard made the game much easier and less challenging. Today, in a nutshell, the difficulty comes down to the end-game raids and players cloistered in their garrisons. As a big company, Blizz looks for results and what's the actual demand. Unfortunatelly, the actual (and young) generation of players want less challenges and more fun at all cost, as fast leveling, solo gaming, class independence, fancy things and all the easy stuff you can see today in retail version. WoD brought many new players, but what about those that left WoW in the previous expansions?
I'm one of those who left, and I do not regret it. Playing here on this private server - or "illegal server" as some retail players say - is very satisfying and challenging. And no, it isn't nostalgia, since this is my first contact with the truly vanilla experience (I started in 2009). The game was just better years ago than today, despite all the problems that had. The fact of not being "oficial" doens't metter for me, once my archievements in-game gain value from what they mean to me, and not what they mean for a company.
I do not have much hope or even concern with the creation of legacy realms by Blizzard. After all, I am very well served.
