Empty WoW folders

by Martin » Fri Jul 10, 2015 6:56 pm

Okay so I am by no means a person with any real knowledge in the realm of computers, which is why I am not sure how to explain my issue. Here goes..

--So after having read that we should delete our WDB (or was it WTF?) folder after the latest patch, I went in my WoW folder, looking for them, and immediately I noticed alot was missing - and alot of the maps were pretty much empty (Interface, WDB, Logs, Screenshots (grr!)) with the other maps looking like they are missing some files too.

--I had downloaded the client from the guide here in the forums and I saw that the creator had put it so he had exclusive rights... Anyways I tried to change it and it now says I have full control over the map (I am admin on the pc and have also moved the folder to desktop) - but it's still the same empty folders.

--I cannot disable the write-protection (where you have to (un)tick a box, no matter what I do, as soon as I untick, press ok, and re-open it's ticked again.

So does anyone have any idea on how I can get those files to show? <3

AverageJoe needs to add this into his support guide. It's really needed. ;)

Aunstic wrote:If you're not running WoW.exe as admin, your WTF and WDB folders will be in:
Start => Run => C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft Classic

Delete the WDB folder in here and move your "WTF" folder to your original 1.12.1 WoW folder.
I recommend moving your WoW folder to your desktop or anywhere that isn't Program Files.

Whether you move it or not, here is how you run WoW.exe as admin all the time:

Aunstic wrote:As for not running it as administrator, right click WoW.exe, click "Properties", and go to the "Compatibility" tab. Make sure it's like the picture below.

Aunstic you're the man.
(and lovely guide for a computer dummy like me  )

If ever anyone else encounters the same issue as me, I will refer them to this. Thank you! <3
