Solo class options...

by Grinde » Sat Jul 25, 2015 11:24 pm

Looking for a class that can solo well... I know that in WoW all classes can solo, but I'm looking to play one that is really good at it. I dislike the idea behind the Hunter class, so throw that out the window.

Via class descriptions I've narrowed my choices to shaman, warlock and Druid (in no order). Any advice?

Ps- ultimately I'd like to go Prot warrior but want to experience content before playing a tank.

Hunter is the ultimate solo class, followed by warlock, I wouldn't suggest a shaman at all rogue and mage both are better solo classes.

Hunter just seems boring to me. Warlock is interesting. Though, I'm playing a necro on p99 right now.. And from what I gather that's exactly what a warlock is. But could still be fun. Mage is interesting. Didn't even think about that one. What defines that class? Warlock is lifetaps/pets... I take it Mage is direct damage specialist?

Hunter can solo next to anything besides world raid bosses and the harder 55+ dungeons, with practice and knowledge of the class and experience of the kite and use of their pets. On that same token, arguably make the easiet and most gold of any class per time spent. Hunters Master Class Orc Marine race.

Warlocks on the same token, can generally solo stuff and are self-sufficent by their class abilities, but lack certain key manics of the class they dont have that hunters do. They also cannot kite as well, pets are not as versatile far as abilities go, and I believe their threat on Voidwalker is a bit shitty/bugged atm I hear on Nost.

Shamans are not a solo class.

Warrior is the most reliant of others to truly shine as a class, as well as most gear dependant.

Mages can AOE farm/kite decently.

Soloing certain dungeon bosses as druid is my fondest kind of memory from the vanilla days. The fights are very slow and you'll need good timing to get the most out of your cooldowns and mana regen, but damn does it feel rewarding!

pretty much what everyone said. if you want to solo everything you got to pick a hunter. they deal good dmg. got a variety of skills. and are great for kiting.

warlocks are great for soloing stuff like elites too if they are demonology but they lack the slows to properly kite, fear is dangerous as it can pull more. deathcoil is nice it gives a short fear to gain distance, but got a 2 minute cd.

mages are great foor soloing too, more sepecificly aoe grinding. they got poly and a shitload of slows. and a nice variety of aoe and good dmg.

id say 1 hunter 2 mage 3 lock.

and rogues are just nice if you want to solo and sneak past mobs

Depends on what you want to solo. I was doing most of BRD / LBRS farm as rogue, Dire Maul was done by single hunter on retail, warlocks could do Maraudon and mages farmed Naxx trash.

If you want to kill big elites, pick a class that can kite. If you want to farm 100 mobs in one pull, pick a class that can aoe well. If you like stealthruns, not much choice here :)
