Question for the Community

by Beadman » Sat Aug 01, 2015 4:08 am

Hey there,

Can't believe I did not find out about Nostalrius until now. This kind of server is something I have been wanting for a long time. Anyway here is my question.

There are a lot of classes/specs I enjoyed playing in vanilla. To help influence my final decision I had a question.
What class/class spec do you wish you had more of in your dungeon groups/raids. In other words what class/class spec do you think is underplayed yet needed.

Any feedback would be great.

We need more polite people - less drama and more room for others opinions.

Faction, spec and class doesn't matter really.

Good tanks are always in a short supply.

Druids seem to be the least played class for some reason. Factions are pretty well balanced. Rogues, mages and warriors are the 3 most popular classes but as Pottu said, there's never enough tanks.

Are tanks really in short supply? A prot warrior was my first choice. But when I saw that Warrior's were the most played class on both horde and alliance by a healthy margin I thought such a role would be overpopulated and so I rolled something else.

I played a warrior tank as an alt back in vanilla, but I regret not playing him enough. Would hate to do that again. :P

The problem is all these tools want to be "DPS warriors" which is why it looks so skewed. Then out of the warriors that actually do tank, half of them have a friggin god complex because it's so hard to get a tank for a group, so they pull primmadonna bullshit all the time.

The other day I was leveling an alt (a healer) and we were doing WC. The tank was going crazy fast, way too fast and not letting people take 2 seconds to drink for mana. The mage complained about it and the guy was like OMG U HAVE ALMOST FULL MANA WHAT I NEED TO WAIT FOR. Then a little while later he pulled a big group while I (the healer) had little mana and I complained about it. He quit the group and was like fuck you guys good luck getting another tank. This was all before the first boss.

We 4-manned the entire instance. I was shocked it was possible but we had an amazing rogue and a pimped out shaman who was able to effectively tank with me healing him, the mage polying, and the rogue sapping and doing insane DPS.

My point? Be a GOOD and HUMBLE tank and people will literally line up to grovel at your feet. Just don't be a DPS warrior or a tank who thinks he is the salvation of the entire server.

Even though I've only leveled to 30 so far I have unfortunately already encountered some of these tanks. And I think your right about the skewing towards dps. 90% of the time, at least from what I've seen, when someone is LF group members for a dungeon in either trade chat or some zones general chat, they are LF at least a tank.

It is something I'll have to consider. Tanking is a lot of fun but am hesitant at rerolling so soon.
