Will raids be pugged on Nost?

by Graeter » Wed Aug 26, 2015 4:55 pm

Hello, I'm checking out Nost atm and having a blast, but I'm concerned about how the game will be for me if and when I reach 60. I played in vanilla, but then I was just 12-13 years old, had a crappy PC, and was on a low-pop server, and as such I didn't really get to raid much, at best I saw the first few bosses of MC, ZG and I think Onyxia. I've been raiding a lot in other games since that however, but I know I won't have the time to join a serious guild on Nost for regular raiding.

I watched some private server videos a while ago, from someone playing on Valkyrie or Emerald Dream iirc, where they joined actual (semi?)pugs for AQ20 and even BWL. I don't remember anything of the sort from my time in vanilla, but maybe that's because players were worse back then and I was again on a small server. Do you guys think raid content will be available to people without guilds on Nostalrius also? Or is perhaps this kind of thing I saw on YouTube due to non-Blizzlike server rules etc., and not something that will happen on a proper server like Nost?

There are both Ony and MC pugs going every week atleast on horde side. Maybe on allliance too.

Some of them are successful, some needs more practice.

Vanilla raids are not hard, that is something people still don't seem to realize. Even though they are "40 player" raids, barring a few bosses with funky mechanics you could reasonably do 40 man raids with 20-25 people as long as they are properly geared and coordinated.

In Throne of Thunder there was a trash mob called "Gastropod", it was a giant snail with a single mechanic, it instantly killed anyone in melee range of its mouth. These mobs have been nicknamed "LFR destroyers" thanks to the sheer number of player deaths they tend to leave behind on Raid Finder difficulty.

The worse part was it had an active buff called "Abrasive Radulla" which explicitly stated "kills and devours any creatures in the caster's path", meaning anyone with an iota of intelligence should have known what would happen.

You can't fix stupid.

Please, please tell me there were tanks who told /raid for the melee to stack around his mouth.

In mechanics they got much more complex, MC compared to 40 Naxx is night and day.
