New to Nostalrius

by Prismane » Sun Dec 13, 2015 2:35 pm

Hello everyone!
I've played WoW since december 2005 and nothing was better than the experience I got to live back in vanilla. Seeking to relive that experience I'm going to join this server. But, what server should I play?
I love both PVE and PvP. I've noticed that the PvP server is overpopulated, people say it's more or less unplayable with constant delays etc.. Is this true? Are there any PvP going on in the PVE realm?
No idea if I wanna go for the PvP server or the PVE one, and what faction?

Delay is really only noticable during the weekends, and especially sundays.

It depends on what you want. Like maybe compare it to living in a small town vs the big city. The pvp realm is always packed with lots of stuff to do, and any bg for most brackets will be up at any time. Finding groups or a guild during your timezone is the easiest thing in the world.

Downsides are that the prices have gone up a bit since the start, but aren't super crazy or anything. You might also wanna think about the content release. The PVP realm is upto patch 1.7, with AV, ZG and BWL. I'm pretty sure the PvE realm is still on 1.4 with AV coming soon.

The PvE server is just a downsized version, and a smaller community which is still very active. You won't have any trouble finding groups or a guild there either, just maybe less choice, idk.

There are lots of other threads that cover this, and have good informational posts. Look through a couple of pages in this forum for more info. Honestly the best thing to do is create a character on each realm, and then look at the starting zones. After that head to a major city and check out the pop, and talk to some people there.

PvP Server is older, so it will take longer to catch up. However, more people so easier to find groups and people to help and play with. More established / successful raiding guilds on PvP because they have been around longer.

Also, PvP server is alive with world PvP. Since the population is so high there is always ganking and people dying, so if PvP while questing isn't your thing PvE is the best bet. The huge pop also has cons because of some lag spikes during peak times when the server hits 8k+ people. And lots of fighting for quest mobs / items (which I like personally). It isn't very bad though.

PvE will be newer, so you will get to see the release of more 1-2 more raids (if you care about that). More people leveling, less established 60s. No world PvP so questing is easier, but no awesome battles unless you flag yourself. Less people, so not as much crazy competition for mobs/items, but harder to find groups sometimes. It takes longer at least, but you'll find a group.

Just two complete different servers, try them out and decide yourself.
