New guy's questions

by dngrs » Thu Dec 10, 2015 6:31 pm

Hi. I have some experience in wow but I really don't remember much about how it was in vanilla so I need some help in picking a class because there were some big changes from vanilla like pallies being useful mainly for main tank heals and being a buffbot and nothing else, not so versatile like in modern wow. Has to be something not so hard to farm stuff with at max level like Im guessing it is with a say a holy priest or maybe I shouldnt worry?

I'm aiming to do mainly PvE tho I will pick the pvp server because I will have a rogue alt to gank in stranglethorn hehehe.

Is it very hard to find raids as a dps or is it easier for which dps classes? I can play healer too or tank. And which professions? need something of a good money maker for a broke new character ( probably no enchanting cuz iirc that is expensive to build).

Do the servers have queues?

Is there some program I can use to pause the download of the game and resume later? It takes me the whole day to download it and it resets if it close it :(

anything else I should know?

thanks :)

download issue is solved

some more questions

is everything scripted? all talents work?

do mobs respawn fast? problems finding mobs to kill on the pvp realm?

for classes I've narrowed it down to priest, warrior to raid as tank ( is it easy to find spots with it? are there too many?), paladin healer for the cool t2 set tho im bored of pallies ( are there many of these?) or a mage.

does a warrior tank really need engineering?

how is server uptime, does it crash every day? because I see 1 day uptime

how hard is it to get the 1000g for mount on these x1 rates?

There could be some scripting issues but for the most part server works pretty well. I haven't experienced any kind of major bugs or issues other than some quests.

PvP server is overpopulated so there will be competition for quest mobs. However, it's not a game breaker and it usually ends after The Barrens, at least for me.

Warrior is an overpopulated class but still one of the better classes in the game at both tanking (the best) and dps (one of the best in game). Paladins are great healers. All of the classes you mentioned are good.

I don't think a warrior needs engineering but I could be wrong. Try the warrior sub forum on here.

Servers have crashed while I've been here but over the last month or so it has been near perfect.

Gold is really not that hard to get in this game, but it does take time to get 1000g if you don't play a lot.

Healers and tanks are always welcome.

Warriors dps are not so high demand (server is full with em) but tanks are pretty mch loved. Me myself i dont have a lot of downtime between dungeons as protection.
Healers are nice all of em are loved. dps i believ (not sure tho) that warlocks annd mages are pretty demanded.

Welcome bud, I had almost the same questions so I'll give you want I found. No queues at all PVE side, they are considerably behind in timeline from the PVP server (about 10mos) so you won't be so behind the content/gear/leveling curve. PVE seems decently populated in the 10lvls I've been here and the community has been relatively chill. Haven't spent much time checking the AH for anything of importance to gauge the economy but from what I've read seems reasonably healthy and wide open.

A few of us have recently settled in on horde side PVE. Some Wow veterans some folks new to the experience. If you are looking for a home check us out.
