New player questions

by Vaclo » Mon Jan 25, 2016 12:24 am

Hello everyone,

First I just want to say good job on doing this,I am completely in love with vanilla.

So, I have a few 'newb' questions that I'd like to know :

1) At what level can I start doing dungeons ?

2) Can i spam dungeons whole day or is there a limited time?

3) Are dungeons prio role to gear up or get good exp?

4) Would you reccomend me doing a dungeon until I get the needed item or once while leveling?

5) Does a group need to have the Tank,Healer and 3 dps? ( because I saw a vid on youtube where a grp is running WC without a tank )

Thanks in advance for the answers! :)

1. Around level 15 if running with group but you can enter DM/RFC at level 10 if Im not mistaken.

2. Yes. Theres a cap of 5 dungeon IDs/h though.

3. Gear. Dungeons exp is really shit (ok if you have quests).

4. It depends. Getting gear can make your leveling easier but can also be a waste of time if it takes too long.
Only run instances if you have quests to go there.

5. Having the normal setup makes the instances smoother but is not neccessary for some lowlvl dungeons.

I would simply suggest, focus on levelling. Do a dungeon once and a while if you're stuck at a level but other than that wait till you're lvl 60 and then do the high end dungeons to gear up.

Hey and welcome!

1) Ragefire Chasm at around 13 or 14 if you're Horde, Deadmines around 17 or 18 if you're Alliance. This is for a proper group. If a high-level is willing to boost you, you can enter both way earlier - 10 for RFC and 13 for DM/VC if I remember correctly.

2) You can use the /resetInstance() script five times per hour. Since a normal dungeon run takes longer than an hour, you can do as many dungeons as you can stomach. Note that the XP gain in dungeons is not that good - it's faster to level by questing.

3) Conversely, the dungeon quests are always good for XP, so it's certainly worth it to do each dungeon at least once and complete all the quests. Use AtlasLoot to check beforehand what items would be good upgrades for you and run the dungeon until you get those.

4) As I said above, do each dungeon at least once to complete the quests in there and if there are some really good items, it's usually worth it to run it until you get them. But you don't want to burn out and quest rewards can be good enough as well.

5) Usually yes. If the DPS output is high enough, the group might be able to take down mobs quickly enough that no tank is necessary but it strains the healer quite a bit. Bunch of 22's can steamroll Deadmines pretty easily.
