Where is the list of rules (for the game, not the forum)

by Talryx » Mon Jun 29, 2015 6:43 pm

I am new to Nost, and I was just reading a thread where someone mentioned that killing NPCs is against the rules. I was shocked - this was always part of vanilla wow as I recall; in fact it was a strategic part of alliance vs horde.

Is there a list of rules somewhere that I can re-read? I thought I read through a list of rules when I signed up, but I do NOT remember anything about not being allowed to kill NPCs, so maybe I missed something...

There are some grey areas that are unmentioned. If you feel like something isn't covered in the rules, you may want to open a ticket and ask a GM if something is against the rules. They're the ambassadors of Nostalrius and definitely act very professional when it comes down to questions (esp. Pottu).

The Terms of Use are the rules for both the forums and in-game with some slight variation between the two. Generally speaking, whatever's not allowed on the forums is also not allowed in the game along with whatever the rules explicitly spell out. Always refer to the terms of use as it is periodically updated as rules change; never rely solely on searching the forums because threads and posts can be old and outdated before new rule changes were implemented.

The rule you're talking about is "extensive killing of important quest NPCs." This was previously allowed but several players took it to the extreme and abused it to the point of griefing hundreds of players' ability to progress, thus the rules were changed to warn players against extensively killing important quest NPCs (I think "extensively" was defined as several hours, meaning you'd have to sit at your computer and kill/camp the same NPC for hours on end). The current terms of use define it as a warning; if you extensively kill important quest NPCs, a GM will warn you before taking further action.

Viper wrote:A - Warning: For minor infringements. A warning is first given to inform a player about the rules and warn him about future sanctions. Warnings remain in the players record.

Examples:
  • Spam;
  • AFK in BG's;
  • Extensive killing of important quest NPCs;
  • Player harassment;
  • Racist or offensive sentiments;
  • Using color changing scripts in-game;
  • Abuse of assistance system (forum or in-game);
  • Lack of respect towards the server or the staff members.
